    Motor Mounts

I can't find new motor mounts for the front. Why they only supply the rears is a mystery to me. Anyone got a source?

Does anybody know what durometer the mounts are? It seems to me that an industrious person could mold new ones out of the room temperature curing urethanes. You can get it in all sorts of durometers. JAT CZ

Well you must be more industrious than I, cause I don't even know what durometer means (can probably reason it out in my head but that is still just a guess).

And yes I will be googling it right now.

Its a gage that measures the hardness of a material. Which would strongly coincide with the density of the material in this case. I doubt this is a published number for our motor mounts. Probably take some industrious soul with a durometer or other instrument to find the hardness.

The stock mounts are somewhere between 40 and 70 on the Shore 'A' scale; this would be roughly a pencil eraser and a shoe heel. You can buy polyurathane rounds (in various diameters and durometers) from McMaster-Carr and machine your own if you want. The softer compunds are hard to machine, it helps if you freeze them first.

Yeah, and the rears are a different parts number. So the question arises, "Are the rears a different durometer than the fronts?"
From my inspection, the shape and size is the same, but that could be because the PO wasn't paying attention.
                            Any guesses, anyone.
James, would you be able to find someone with a durometer gage, and have the new ones tested?
Actually, the old ones shouldn't change that much, if the quality was on a par with the rest of the bike.
Uuuuum, I'll look into that. CZ

I'd say no to the durometer. The difference is the rears have a 'flat' on one side of the outer metal washer, the fronts don't.
