If it were me, I'd get the mufflers installed. Reset your mix srews for about 2 turns out from seated, and replace the plugs with new ones.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Has anyone any good ideas about his electrical issues. Electickery and me are not good friends...lol.
Yes I agree put the pipes and pods on before trying to do anything else to the carbs. I found I did have to go up one pilot jet size on mine with the pods installed. I would also try the clear tubing method of checking float heights as well.2-79 XS1100 SF

Not an electrical guru by any stretch, but I would start at the fuse box. I know he said it lit up when he pulled the brake, but unless the wiring on the bike is seriously and entirely fubar, there is very little chance that one had anything to do with the other. My guess is that he was sitting on the bike at the time and caused enough motion for one fuse to make connection or something like that.
Being that the fuse box is a known weak spot in the sparky system on these machines, that would be my first stop anyway.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Congrats Dez!!! In the end it always ends up being something simple, its just never simple finding it!To quote a phrase from the movie "Pearl Harbor"...."Victory belongs to the ones who believe in it the most and who believe in it the longest".
You are a believer!!
As to cheating, well, if all your having them do is adjust the mixture and the synch on the carbs, you stand a chance of them getting that right. Beyond that, you probably already know twice as much as they do about this machine and what makes it tick. Either way, good luck with it!!Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Dez,
I'm sure it will be fine. I have to farm out stuff these days because I'm never home. I dropped my bike in the shop, and when I finally got it back, it screams like never before! The downside is that there is no one fussier than me. There's always something not done to my liking. Sometimes I need to just let it go.

Hey Dez: I feel for ya man - I was there a couple years ago & hey if a guy can just go out & get laid whenever he wants I would think you have it made. - I'm an old married guy & don't have that 'get laid card". Sounds like that shop is the place. Lucky they have that in your area. Hope it all works out - Dan'81 XS1100 LH - Midnight Special - been lookin' a long time for this one.
