MIss
Here is what has been done to it since I bought it, so youll understand. I bought it in late 09. It was missing often on 2 cylinders, and learned on this forum about the PU wires. He replaced them, and that fixed it wonderfully! He tore the carbs apart to look at them and clean, and found one of the jets was basically welded in place. I got carb kits from the States, and he drilled out the bad jet, but none of the parts perfectly matched any of the old parts in the carbs! He put all the old jets back in place, except the one he had to drill out, and basically threw all the rest of the crap kits away! The replaced jet has always run a little rich, he couldnt lean it as much as he would have liked, but it has run fine until about a month and a half ago. This miss started out slowly, and has progressed. He has reinspected all wiring, cleaned connections, checked fuses, etc. I have a 6 mo old voltage regulator on it, and new 3 ohm coils, and still have this damn miss!!! Today and yesterday, he has been playing with the mixture, he richened the missing cylinder, which is the one with the new jet. He has had the carbs off and inspected them twice within the last two months when the miss started, and its not dirt, or broken parts. Yesterday, he switched the diapragm from the missing cylinder, which coincidentally is the one wth the replaced jet, and put it in the outboard cylinder next to it, and its still the same one missing, so that rules out the diaphragm. My mechanics a good carb man, and electrical, but had no dealings with this bike until I got this one, and the work he is doing on the mixture doesnt seem to be doing much. We are just at a complete standstill, but I gave you all the history so you would know that many of the suggestions Ive gotten, to clean carbs etc had been done more than once recently. And, the replaced jet, worked well for almost two years, and is clean, he doesnt think any way that thats what it is. Sorry to bother ya with this, but many of the guys didnt realize that almost all of the small things have been checked, and we are lost!!!! Thanx for the time, and I realize you might not be able to give me an answer, but thought Id try!!! Take care, and mabuhay from the Philippines!!! The cylinder thats missing is the third one, and Ive also had a suggestion to switch number two and three plug wires, and see if the miss moves. Am gonna try that today. A friend also suggested the idle mixture, could that cause a miss like this?? Again, to describe the miss, it only misses under light throttle. When given plenty of throttle, it runs fine until it reaches cruising speed for that gear, and then starts to miss until given plenty of throttle again. HEEEEELLLLLPPPPPPPP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
