Give it a taste and see if you can tell us when it was brewed!!

After pumpin gout the muckiest of it, here is what was in Banshee when I got her...

Not quite the balls of schtuff that Ras found when someone had mixed 4 and 5 together though.

Highly recommend a complete dismantle of the entire system and clean it lines and fittings and all.

The reservoir is a twist and pull to remove. There is an oring in under there. Also pull the plunger out and clean inside as well.

Mine was that color but chunky, too. I completely disassembled the entire system, including removing the caliper pistons and seals, and cleaned every single inch.

                    Brakes

Yuuuuk......all these are great suggestions! I found nothing but rust in mine (front & back ) res.. Since brake fluid attracts water you should change it on a reg. basis.

I wouldn't use carb cleaner, I'd use brake cleaner, safe on rubber parts pretty sure.

And brake cleaner completely evaporates leaving no oily residue.

While carb cleaner does that part too, it's the damage to rubber brake parts that would worry me, and brake cleaner is made for cleaning those parts. But, with the exception of the brake lines, I was taught in auto shop to use hot soapy water followed by a thorough drying on brake parts, as that does a better job of cleaning than the brake cleaner. For that matter, the hot soapy water follow by brake cleaner works cause the brake cleaner will help get the water out/off of the parts, but don't get water into the lines, you may have a hard time getting it out of them, everything else it's the best way.
