Just a note of caution using aftermarket filter bolts. There have been a number of cases of the Pressure relief valves jamming in some of the cheapie bolts available so make sure you check for correct operation of the valve before fitting it.

              Whatsamatter... Bolt head stripped?
              Here's what ya do:

              1. Go to Tacoma Screw and buy a large, metric nut. Size...? Oh, maybe something that a 17mm socket/wrench would grab.

              2. Take oil filter bolt, large nut and a six pack of good beer (Let's not be cheap here with the bribe) and go to Zigler Welding downtown, (322 Capitol Way) or go to anyplace that makes trailer hitches and such.)

              3. Place the 6 pack on the counter... then place the large nut over the stripped bolt head and ask the counter guy if they could please fill in the hole with 'filler rod'.

              4. You now will have an oil filter bolt with a head that won't strip.

(Make sure to remove the O-ring prior to welding. Might melt, ya know)

Hey, I used to go to Tacoma Screw when I needed oddball fasteners that I couldn't find anyplace else. Then I moved to a bigger town, that doesn't have anyplace like that.

Of course I'm fixing my potential filter bolt problem by installing a SOFA during my next oil change. Then I won't have to worry about it again.

Well this reminds me of two things.
One of the early loves of my life lived in Tacoma. Her name was Jamie, rode bikes. She would be about sixty now.

While looking at the POs receipts I noticed a work order that said the oil filter bolt was stripped.
Do not know for sure that it was fixed, other than the bike does not drip oil.
I guess I will find out.
