It seems Parts n More has changed their website. I went there with the intention of getting a set of XV920 float valves for my 79F and couldn't find anything. Bike Bandit is living up to their name by asking $90+ for their valve. Anybody know where I can find the blasted things at for a sane price?

Was that $90 per valve, or $90 for a set of four?
Try Z1 Enterprises: $20.48 per carb kit

Z1 also sells just the XV920 float valves at $10 apiece plus shipping, Georgefix can also get them, he quoted me $12 a piece plus shipping. Have not checked into the shipping cost, but I'll probably order from George as he has treated me well on other things and is easy to deal with. Z1 Enterprises
Ok, I dug up my receipts for my other XV920 valve seats and they did come from Z1. I got my plastic floats from Mikes XS at the same time. Prom, those seats were $90 each. Now that I have tried using Parts n More's new site, I have decided it's more trouble than it's worth. I liked it better when you could just click on your bike and it took you right to it. Holy Batguano Bat man!!!! $90 per valve seat!!!!! Sorry, but that is well...amazing!!! I just ordered 4 of them plus 6 jets from Georgefix for $60 total. Liek I said, I priced them at Z1 at $10 per, plus shipping which I never confirmed from them.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Wow, Parts n More really did work that site over. I wonder what possessed them to change the place that much. That really didn't seem to be much of an improvement.
Maybe they changed their web host.RIP Whiskers (Shop Boss) 25+yrs

XV920 valves
Yes, them's the ones. Some have said that the metal seal washer made it hard to set the float height correctly due to excessive bending for the tabs on the float. I didn't have a problem on either of the carb sets I did. The feed hole is a little smaller, but it hasn't caused me any problem. Not having to worry about fuel in your oil is nice. I forgot to shut off my petcocks for several days and didn't leak a drop.1979XS1100SF

Rob, the wires across the top are there for alignment. I am sure they would work without them, however, I typically hang the valve on the float by that wire and lower them into the seat as a unit.Life is what happens while your planning everything else!

Wires
+1 on what Don said. I took mine off on both of the rebuilds I did. I just made sure the limiter tab was set so the needle wouldn't get misaligned if the bowls ran dry.1979XS1100SF

Just for an aside, the wires on the float valves are also there to help the float PULL the valve open in case it gets stuck and won't open from just gravity and fuel pressure, when the float finally drops low enough to engage the wires.
