From my understanding (not from first hand experience though) the ones on mikes XS will fit a special but will NOT fit a standard tank. But do not take my word on it, I am sure someone will be able to answer from first hand experience.

I don't know if the cap will fit, but the lock portion will transfer to your existing cap, and the rubber seal will also, so you can at least get a new lock assembly and cap seal if nothing else.

Well, it might fit the special tank, but will NOT fit a standard tank. Totally different setup. The only thing in common is the lock assembly.

              similar story

Man its like looking back at the same story, I bought a 79 xs11 sf for my first bike, I'm 5'11'' and weigh 300 lbs i know its a monster bike but im so proud. This forum has helped me a ton but yet its still not running. I have replaced almost every part of the fuel system ( i think they call it a parts shotgun lol). I bought a K&L petcock rebuild kit and assembled it according to my climber manual. They leak worse. I have not replaced the floats ( i have to repair one of the float posts it was broken clean off by the hole and doesnt seem to affect float movement). I have new jets gaskets, needles etc from a K&L kit. OEM NEEDLES AND SEATS and have repeatedly set float levels. I feel like this it is a never ending cycle ... Any Advice would be appriciated

Does the bike just plain not start and run at all, or not idle well, or lack power. More detail of what your seeing/hearing will help alot in figuring out what is wrong. Also, try to start it (if it just plain does not start) and then check the plugs to see what they look like.

Isnt it the K&L kits that commonly come with the wrong style pilot jets?

From personal experience you will enjoy your bike much more if you dump lots of blood and sweat into it as opposed to just buying a running rig. it is somewhat cheaper to

I know this is an xs650 but I think I want my bike to look a lot like this.

                      http://www.xs650chopper.com/2009/09/xs-half-fairing/

I'm just not sure If my bike will handle as well as it looks. I know I have a lot to do before I get there but at least I found that fairing for sale.

I might just save tha styling for the tx 500 I'm going to try and cafe in the next few years.

I'm not trying to talk you out of anything, however, you may want to try riding around in that kind of position for a while before you go to hog wild with the changes. If you plan to much long distance riding at all, that position can get real old real fast. If your just planning to use the scoot on a local basis, then that should work out fine.

just the engineer in me, form follows function. PLenty of artistic types that switch that round.

Yeah I can see that and i do plan on taking the 11 to Keywest one day. Plus the old lady Hates Cafe racers (not as much as she hates being called my "old lady") so I guess I will save the Cafe look for TX500 since it's not really a long haul bike with that whole head crack overheat thing.

Calling her the "Old Lady" is not so bad. Now, if you were still dating, and she brought you to her neices wedding (although only 5 years difference between them) and you happen to let slip the term "Old Maid", well, NOW you need to find some cover, quickly!!! DAMHIKIJK.
