Ok, so I put those $49 MikesXS emulators in my Special leading axle forks. At first, i was worried about them being too small, but they fit the damping rods nicely. Of course, the damping rod compression holes (4) had to be drilled out to 5/16" and two more added, total of 6. I'm using Progressive springs and a 3 1/4" preload spacer.
These are the emulators...
I'm running 225cc's of 20W fork oil in each leg, and the emulators are at 2 1/2 turns out, where the baseline street setting is 2 turns. I took the bike only for a short ride and I noticed a big improvement immediately. Nice firm action, no diving, good rebound. I'm very happy with this simple and relatively inexpensive mod.
