  • Who wants a better way to fill your Air Forks?

I just set this up on mine and thought i would share.

Fork Air rail assembly instructions with pictures.
    http://www.megaupload.com/?d=6GAGY4TT

Who wants an easier way to fill and check fork air pressure?
Assembly and installation take approx. 1-2 hours.
Approx. Cost is $25-$40 Depending on material used.

    Parts list:
2 – 1/8” Pipe Tee’s, can be: brass, black steel, stainless steel, aluminum, (it’s your choice.)
    1 – 1/8” Pipe Nipple (same material as tee’s.)
2 – 1/8” to 3/16” Hose Barb fittings, again brass, black steel, stainless steel, aluminum.
2 – Hose Clamps, of the smaller variety, not sure of their measurements.
    1 – 1/8” Tank Valve,
1 - 1/8” NPT 0-30 PSI Gauge (would be best) or whatever you can get your hands on.
1 – A bit of thread sealant compound of your choice, Teflon tape or liquid..
2 – Zip ties, I like black ones.

#1. Place bike on center stand.
    #2. Remove fork valve caps.
    #3. Remove fork valve cores.
#4. Take the 9” haltec extensions and cut the inlet ends off (end end that looks like the tire fill valve).
#5. Thread the extensions onto the fork valve stem, tighten to snug,(rubber seals well)
#6. Using thread sealant assemble thread your nipple into the tee’s and tighten.
#7. Using thread sealant assemble thread your hose barb fittings into the tee’s.
#8. Using thread sealant assemble thread your tank valve into one of the tee’s.
#9. Using thread sealant assemble thread your air pressure gauge into the other tee.
#10. Route the hoses to the air rail assembly, carefull not to kink them.
#11. Slide the hose clamps onto hoses.
#12. Slide hoses onto barb fittings and tighten clamps.
#13. Wrap zip ties around air rail assembly and handle bars and tighten to desired snugness.
#14. Add air to rail, Ride and adjust to comfort level.

Note: only add air when on side stand.
Note: Only adjust with you sitting on the bike and off all stands.
Note: If you use the tire pressure gauge like I did, you will have to cut the brass rod off the gauge.

Here is another alternative...good for air forks or air shocks, and has a connector that won't bleed pressure when attaching or detaching from the valve. I have one just Like it and am very happy with it.

There are usually several of these on ebay, so this one may not be the lowest price available.

i think this system is a bit better and you never have to worry about pressure.
you just look at the gauge.

and the price is close to the same as your tool, but i can fill at any gas station and get a precise adjustment everytime.

I had a similar setup years ago on my 79F (80 forks), and it turned out to be a real hassle with all the clutter there. Went to Progressive springs and lost the air altogether. Rode much better. JMHO

I'm just curious - What are those triangular blocks clamped to the handlebars on each side??

Oh... Nevermind... Those are the windshield clamps.
