I know this doesn't help you now. I made a drill guide that fits in the threaded hole and then use a stock size drill that will drill out the tip and stay on center. So if anybody needs to drill out any tips, pay for shipping and you can use it.

If the material is thick enough you might be able to trim off the metered part of a pilot jet, then drill out the carb idle hole and press the metered part of the pilot jet into the new hole.
It'd have to be centered pretty much dead on or the idle screw tip would touch one side or another of the 'new' idle mix hole and it wouldn't meter properly. If it's far enough off centerline it could break off the tip in the hole again and you'd be pretty much screwed, again.

proper size hole? ??
I'd bet it's not just a "proper size hole" but a specially designed tappered bit was used to create the passage for fuel/air.
