I was thinking of going with helium

Hey, if you used helium but you were on mars, what should the psi be?...on a Thursday?...in the afternoon

What kind of air,synthetic air, regular air, hot air, cold air. Do i put the valve stem on top, bottom or side to put the air in. Does the tire have to be on the ground or off the ground? LOL

Another tire thread. I'm sure the air will be mostly HOT ... That being the case, valve stem at the bottom cause hot air rises and the tire will fill faster and more evenly

AFAIK, if you can find them in the proper size there is no reason we can't use them. But I don't believe they make them in our sizes.

So far I have found 38-40 to be what is working best for me, and that is measured with the bike on the sidestand and the tires cold.

Me too!!! But everyone is different so don't listen to us, test the water for yourself.

No way! That's at the max and you're gonna ruin your tires and wreck and die!!

I think we can use radials as long as you don't mix radial and ply (ie one kind on the front and the other on the back).

I use whatever type of air happens to be in my compressor.

One of the tire manufactures has a tool on their website where you can look up your bike model and tire and it gives you a suggested pressure for that tire on your bike.

I personally run dunlop D404's right now, reason is that they were cheap and so was the bike and I wasn't sure when I got it that I wanted to keep it so cheap tires were the ticket. That said they are "ok" tires but wear out quickly in my experience and I'll be switching to something else when these wear out.

What you'll find in the end is everyone has a favorite and an opinion and of course everyone's choice is obviously the best one. But, this will give you an idea about performance and life of most of the brands.

For the past 20 years or so the bias ply tires made for bikes are a semi radial design and have a much shallower angle on the lap of the plies. Therefore we need to run a higher pressure than specified in 1970's and 80s specs. I recommend running the max cold pressure listed on the sidewall of your tires.

My Kenda's seem to be pretty good so far. The traction seems good, both wet and dry, and so far wear seems fine, but I don't really have enough to know for sure. I'll let ya'all know after the Cali Rally.

Elite II??? You better check the dates on those tires as they don't make them anymore.
