k, if its been sitting for a while,
how were the carbs in general when you pulled them apart?
was fuel left in it? if they were pretty gummed up they might
need a good soaking in carb cleaner. (all rubbers would have to be removed)

with the bike running, adjusting the mixtures screws on 3 and 4 does it make any difference to the engine?

carbs were really clean, just the pilots were a little clogged, when the bike is running you can look inside the carb and see its not fueling, no the adjustments didnt help

k, sorry for all the questions

sounds like the bike isnt with you,

when you can try starting the bike on the choke,
the choke system uses a different fuel circuit to deliver the fuel,
if it fires on all 4 then that would confirm blockages in the pilot circuit.

To clean the pilot circuit, removing the pilot jet
along with the air jet at the back of the carb, leave the mixture screw in
but screwed out a fair way, block the pilot jet with your finger and spray carb
cleaner thru the air jet, you should then be getting carb cleaner out of the holes(4) from that area near the inside of the butterfly.

bowls were full, I mounted the 2 right carbs to the 2 left side intakes, so 1 and 2 were open intakes, the carbs were sticking out of the left side, I need carbs

We're going to be there in DFW in about 2 months. Check the south central rallies forum.

None of what your saying makes a lick of sense to me.

                      We'll figure it out.

                        PROBLEM SOLVED!

carbs have 4 adjustments on a shaft for synchronizing? I turn the 2 that were not fueling, and guess what? they started fueling at idle, idles smooth and revs quick

You have a very nice, nearly stone-stock '78. The only non-stock parts I see are the rear shocks, and you're missing the rear turns.

I'm probably biased a bit, but I always though these were the best looking of all of them...
