Thanks! Still adding pics to make the topic complete again. Will take a while hahaha ... -
Well.... I have started work again on this never ending story and before writing again about it wanted to refresh some posts with new pictures as the old ones were lost during the transition to the new site. So I did that and it took me an hour to add about 18 pictures and after I finished I entered and got the message that only 5 attachments are allowed.... So, it's getting late now and try to refresh some pics from the beginning to the end in the next weeks. After that I will start posting some pictures of the new work done on the bike.Hope you'll like that.
Here a couple of teasers that did not make it to the end ....the 4-1 had to go...
i did not like the CBR600/hybrid footrests..... so off they went ...
This fairing bracket turned out to be too small..... aaaand ... it's gone...
This Motogadget electronic speedo / tacho had to move as it looks too modern...
And after trial fitting more than 10 different headlamp configurations this one did not make it either hahaha..

Here we are again … this time with some pictures .. Starting with some older pictures to fresh up some memories because it is long time ago .... Mr.Q’s brainchild:
Suzuki carbs installed with stainless steel supports added to keep them from moving up and down. The supports are fixed to the rubber air intakes to keep them from vibrating.
Magnesium Dymag with floating rear Brembo disc:
Pre exup fzr 41mm forks with early Gixxer front fender:
I sold the Fournales air shock and replaced it with a Bitubo race shock for a Kawasaki ER-6:

Also Mathh, the almost finished result looks a whole lot different than when I remember several yrs. back you showed the pic of the jig set-up when you were building that twin- spar frame set-up in order to clear those outer two cyls. along with the mono-shock set-up.Wow, that WAS many yrs. back! How time flys the older we get. Since I be the one over the yrs. who always was questioning this bikes progress, Thanks again for the pic. and progress of an awesomely designed old school mixed with new technology REAL track bike
!
And it will be a track bike. Hopefully next year, alongside the finishing of a Benelli Sei and a Kawasaki Z1 Sanctuary look-a-like.
As I am getting older I realise that all these projects are worthless unfinished so I already downsized my collection from 25 bikes to 10 now, which I am determined to get running so there is genuine hope. And many thanks for motivating me all that time.Leave a comment:

guess he figured giving it to you, it wouldn't end up wasted and might get used by someone who gives a rip about these bikes. Must've been his way of trying to make amends for buying a north american paint shaker to replace his nads. So sad to see people think that a harley answers all life's problems.Leave a comment:

Everything looks ok although it needs lots of work ...
took the covers, tank and seat off, checked if the pickup plate moved freely
Pulled out the plugs, no rust on the cylinder walls ... squirted some oil on the pistons, turned the crank by hand... turns extremely easy, almost no sound. Used a starter aid... turns like a new one .. starts to look really good now. Maybe there's some life left in the electrics, now I know why there was that NOS wiring harness
even the fuel tank is still fullLeave a comment:

At the moment I am still busy rebuilding the engine from a Moto Martin framed Cbx1000 for a client but it's nearing completion, so with any luck I can start again soon with my racer... still standing there.
This week I picked up a complete xs and several boxes full of parts, I all got for free. It even contains a NOS 2H9 wiring harness and black box.... The bike had been standing for 20+ years and belongs to a friend of mine I hadn't seen for that same amount of time. We did a lot of riding together then. He now has a midlifecrisis and bought himself a HARLEY ....... so decided to get rid of the XS because of storing issues ..
The engine has been massaged in the 80's by JSPP in Holland. It has Crane cams, 1mm bigger inlet valves, head saw some flowing work, and it has a big bore kit (don't know how big ...) so it could be a great engine for the racer but it looks a bit tired and I have no clue if the engine turns ( anyway tires were flat, that's for sure...). But who cares
Here are some pics of my new treasures...:
the bike: 80's styling ... early brembo's ... dyna ... 18"pvm .. big oilcooler ..
