Does anyone know how the wiring should be inside the on off switch housing? there are 2 red wires and a blue wire for the starter button.

Have you checked out the wiring diagram in the manual? That might help you. It's been a while since I opened mine up, so I don't remember what is in there.

Are you talking about the handle bar mounted emergency shutoff switch? That housing has that switch and the starter button.

The emergency shutoff switch completed the circuit between the two red wires. The starter button completed the gtounding loop for the starter solenoid, so the blue wire and a black wire run to the starter button.

the wires to the starter button are fine. it's the 2 wires going to the on off switch - there are 3 screws, 2 next to each other and a 3rd below in between. not sure about the wiring of the 2 red wires and the schematic doesn't help.

The two screws right next to each other hold the wires for the kill switch The third screw in the mounting screw for the kill switch assembly on top of the controller.

Shouldn't there be 4 wires? Red/whites complete the hot circuit and a black and blue/(black or white) complete the start or ground circuit. I remember not to get the mixed up because you melt the button (if it's plastic) pretty damn good
