    Insurance cost

I just put liability insurance on my 1980 xs and it is $2.71 a month. Is this really low? Things have changed since I was single 18 and riding a 1996 nighthawk 750. It was around 600 a year. I'm using State Farm

            Insurance Cost

Well guys, I assume all of you are in the USA without even looking at where you are from just by your insurance rates! I live here in Canada and I'm actually an Insurance Broker here. I do the Commercial Liability and Property side of things. I can tell you though that here in Canada it is quite a different story for bike Insurance. I have my 1980 XS1100 Special Insured with no collision and no Comp coverage and I pay $50 per month with a 9 year clean record!!! We envy you guys down there in the USA with your rates as they seem low compared to ours!!!! I know it's all relative but we always get "raped" by these Insurers whether here in Canada or the USA!

As a Broker for 20 years, I can tell you that the Insurers are always screaming about losing money in Auto related risks. What they fail to tell us as the public is that they make millions on the property and Liability side!! Like the banks, when they say they've had a bad year it's because they only made 100 million instead of 200 million!! Well, that's my two pennies worth!!

Are you kidding me?? I thought the insurance had us ALL by the short hairs? You have to have it here... they just won't pay when you need them. At least Farmers won't.

State Farm... $75 a year liability, no tickets or accidents. (Yeah.. surprises me too... )

                  Insurance Optional

Actually, it's optional here in Canada too! If they pull you over and catch you without it they even throw in a free ride to jail!!!! Includes a sandwich in the evening and Oatmeal and stale bread in the morning!! The coffee's always fresh though!! And the best news of all.....they'll refinish your bike with asphalt on one side or the other!!

Sorry, it's late, guess I'm getting punchy, or had too much to drink!!??

No insurance needed, but the catch is you have to wear a helmet. If you choose not to wear a helmet, you must carry $10,000 medical insurance. For me, $0 per year and I wear a half helmet. Police won't ask for your proof of insurance unless you don't have your lid on.

Oh ya, they're real happy to help you out with that here! For some reason they have absolutely no sense of Ha Ha about it at all! Oh well, what can you do! I think I'll move to the USA! I hear the XS1100's are even faster down there too!! Not to mention our riding season is about 3 weeks up here!!

Excuse me, it's time for another beer! Hiccup!

$214 a year here in the highly congested Seattle area. Comp was not an option. I didn't shop a lot, but Progressive offered much better coverage for less money. I'm 55 with nothing on my record. Lots of crazy drivers around here. Gotta be on your toes whether driving or riding.
