Ivan, you might look into biltwell. They have a setup where you make your own exhaust. You get however many bends and whatnot. It's for v twins, but they say you can get two exhausts out of them.

            Ivan,

I received my order of mandrel bends and exhaust clamps and tried to make something up on Saturday...that's eight hours of my life I'll never get back

I found out two things: 1. trying to figure out those bends requires duct tape to keep my head from exploding, and 2. my el cheapo Harbor Freight welder coupled with my welding skills results in nothing but a bunch of holes burnt through expensive mandrel exhaust tubes

But you are on to something. For someone with the proper equipment and skill to do it, building an exhaust pipe for an XS1100 is quite possible to do. It sure would be great for someone to come up with a 4 into 1 into 2 system with some sexy upswept megaphones

Harbor freight welders are not good for fine control. I would probably do much better with a torch and a small tip, since I can't float a tig... But then again, its been several years since I did any type of welding, so I would take me quite some time to get the technique back.

                    This is my tranzac exhaust
was thinking of cutting off the collector
where it goes into 1 and putting a 'x' pipe there
                    for a dual muffler system.

as is this set up pulls harder in the mid range compared to a 4 -1,
but loses a cpl of hp at the top end.

Here is the Ebay sight for the Campbell X-pipe: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...fvi%3D1&_rdc=1

In my quest for some solution, I actually talked to Monty today on the phone...figure that

If the exhaust performs like claimed...and I don't have reason to doubt...it would make a great performance pipe. However, it is expensive and I'm not sure it will provide the look I want. The canister doesn't exit much past the front side of the rear tire...probably about where the rear pegs are located. That might be uncomfortable for a rear passenger.

A chrome system is probably around $700 to $800 by my estimations Please keep in mind that is my estimate and not a quoted price.

                        Pete,

What are you guys overseas using for replacement exhausts?

From what I read, the 4 into 1's are not the best performing systems for our bikes. The 2 into 2 and 4 into 1 into 2's are the better performers.

                          Mashermoto,
Didnt you have a set of kerker head pipes
fitted on your bike, there a quality headpipe.

                              yep, got it on atm,
it pulls harder from 3000 onwards
                              than a 4 - 1, (ive got 2 different types of 4 -1 headers )
but not as hard as a 4-1 after 6000rpm onwards.
The sound is different to, sounds a bit tinny,
i prefer the sound of the 4-1, but i like the mid range performance
                              of the 4-2-1.

                                Mash,
From what ive been reading lately, as far as after market exhausts,
the guys here are using the tranzac exhaust, (the 1 in the pic)
they are an aussie company in queensland
(i think from memory this is the
same exhaust aussiexs11g uses, he got over 100hp on a dyno
                                with his engine mods.
Other than that, ive got the marshall 4 - 1 headers
and another aftermarket 4-1 header that i dont know the make.

From what i know tho if you can get hold of an original 4 -2 stock
exhaust, they are the best systems for our bikes.
