I didn't pull the H clip yet tonight, I may get bored and do it still yet. If not first thing in the morning. I got distracted installing new progressive springs in my forks. I did take a few pictures, should I throw together a tech tip on the installation process? (it was a lot easier than I thought.

Okay, 1st draft drawing of a retainer clip.
Needs further work and dimensions but it's a start. Will do detailled plan and a cutting template as well.

Some dimensions...
Haven't had much time to devote to this in recent days, but here are some updated basic drawings with measurements. Sorry guy's they're in metric, we went metric years ago and these are japanese bikes we're talking about. If I get a chance over the weekend, I'll do a 3D render of the clip and make it look like it was done by someone who knows what they're doing.

not complaining or nit picking or anything, but. . . . when giving/getting dimensions for sheet metal that will be broke (bent on a brake) aren't you supposed to add half of the thickness of the material? When i worked in a sheet metal factory i'm pretty sure that's the "formula" we used. For example: The material is .048" thick, you want a flange that is .5" long, don't you start your brake at .524" from the raw edge? (sorry about the imperial dimensions, but it's just for a "what if" scenerio) I didn't do the conversions from metric to imperial from the dimensions you've given, if you've already taken the length eaten up in the bends I apologize.1980 XS11SG

Check with http://www.partsnmore.com/parts/yamaha/xs1100/?filters[category]=chassis#product-99-5000
for the Brake Pads. The last set I bought came with those clips. Send them an email asking if the pads still include the clips.
Or check with your local aftermarket parts store.
I doubt you will find the clips only for less $$ than a set of pads from above vendor.
