When living in Arizona I ran BP7ES as daytime temps often went well over the 100 deg. F mark. Here in Colorado I went back to the stock BP6ES. Have found that some ignition problems, or poor performance, can be traced back to bad ground connections and internal corrosion in the battery cables. I would replace battery cables and clean all ground points before experimenting with other plugs or alternate coils. Not that these things won't be an improvement, but you should have a good baseline from which to start.

"... the spider just sits back and waits..."

He's bored... hungry... watching as cautious flies, like Ivan, buzz past.

But he knows... that sooner or later... some other insect will become ensnared in his trap...
Some unwary member will write in...
"Hey Prom, I watch 'Dancing with the Stars', too. Aren't the costumes fabulous?"

And then... the trap is sprung...
      There is no escape...
The victim will soon be mocked to death!

Once again my sense of humor is only funny to me. Maybe I should join Prom in watching DWTS.
It's good that you have a sense of humor as I must admit I would not be considered the life of any party as motors, pumping iron and military history are my pass time and as a woman once told me, Dan you are one boring MOFO...........good night and good luck....and I haven't seen her since. I could take up dancing I suppose but like they say in North St. Louis, white guys can't dance, damn, it's just my luck to be a white guy in the 21st. century.

"Frotteurism by any other name is..."

          Dancing.

          Dan... let me help you.
Why suffer the indignity of rejection...
The heartbreak of ...a broken heart.

          Dancing...
          Bah!
When I feel the need to have a female partner... to feel a woman's body pressed next to mine...
I just ride a crowded subway.
Sure... there's no music and they don't serve cocktails afterwards...
but there's always an attractive selection of women to choose from.
Not much "dancing" involved... but it's quite pleasurable... until they start slapping you.
Just something you might want to consider.

We don't have subways in St. Louis but we do have the Metro Link but to ride that you better be able to dance or be accompanied by S&W.............know what I mean! Actually I can take rejection as I was married once but like the old country and western song of days gone by, "Thank God And Greyhound She's Gone".

I live with four women. My wife and three teenage daughters.

I have been ever so politely informed that if I don't want to sleep in the cold, I should control my involuntary projectile vomiting during DWTS.

To quote my six year old son when he was watching DWTS:

"This show SUCKS! Its been FIVE WHOLE MINUTES and NO EXPLOSIONS!"

I couldn't have put it more elegantly my self.

Oh, and so as not to hijack the thread any farther, I use spark plugs with white insulators.
                Ich habe dich nicht gefragt.

Getting back on topic, I use Bosch Platinum plugs when I can find them. The tend to only be a buck or 2 more than NGK plugs and they perform better (not much) and seem to last longer. Since I don't like changing plugs more than I have to, it's worth the price.

                        NGK Iridium Spark Plugs

A couple of weeks ago I called the tec rep at NGK reference the iridium plug deal and the replacement plug for the Eleven is a BPR6EIX and that plug has a 5 ohm resistor built in and my stock type caps contain 5 ohm resistors and so unless I switched to a non resistor cap that plug would not be kosher for me. The iridium plug has a very small tip (.6mm), requires less voltage and theoreticaly creates a greater spark from a given amount of voltage produced by the coils however they will not make any more horsepower on the dyno in my Eleven motor or my 565 cubic inch race car motor vs the conventional plugs I normally use. The 565 in my drag race Camaro employs an MSD 7AL-2 ignition system and produces 50,000 volts and 115 millijoules per spark and and they make a 6AL system that makes 40,000 volts that's available for some bike applications and would be a sweet deal for the Eleven if they made one. You have to keep in mind though that the Eleven only has between 9 and 10 to 1 compression and doesn't require as much juice to light the fire as the high compression stuff. The iridium and platinum plugs are installed in most new car motors and will last a 100,000 miles ( I guess) and they will work fine in a bike if you have the correct caps but the BPR6EIX are $10.50 ea. vs a couple bucks ea. for the BP6ES and considering the fact that they don't make any more power it's a clear choice for me. More voltage to the plugs or at the plug tip will not necessarily make more horsepower if you have the necessary voltage to begin with but generally it won't hurt however not enough voltage will hurt. I like to take out my plugs from time to time and look at them and see how my motors doing, some times I blast them and reuse them but most of the time I throw them away and put in new ones. At the moment I'm rebuilding my front master cylinder, replacing the front brake lines with aftermarket stainless and working on brakes suck. I rebuilt the calipers last winter and the damn thing is dragging again and the spooge hole might be stopped up or the stock lines are funky on the inside but who knows and so I'm going to start from the handle bar down and do it right this time as soon as the holidays are over. In 06 I put a new rear master cylinder on it that Donelson Cycles found for me but I could not locate a new front one and so I'll clean the old stock one and put in a Yamaha rebuild kit and see what happens. I've replaced practiculy everything on this stupid thing, even the tack quit working and I had to pay $300.00 for a new one that Donelson was hoarding and was lucky to get it. It's no wonder my ex wife took the night train to Georgia......maybe she was onto something and it wasn't an XS-1100. Knowing her, she is probably taking advanced courses in the BIG Bang Theory as we speak.....you betcha!

I dont care I just put them in

If you want more mile's or performance just depends greatly on how you ride, nothing to do with the sparkplug if your gaps to big it will no doubt put a load on your coils, so having the plug gap set right in the first place is a good idea........ cant put me hand on my folder at the moment, if I could I would tell you the correct gap.

There are also a number of plug make's to choose from, most important it is rated to the engine spec, wont give you more miles.

when the good fella's make these machines they put a load of research in to them, best to having the carbs set right in the first place, but thats another subject.

                              Enough said
