do any of you guys know what these carbs go to, the PO just gave it to me.
its the same make as ours. I think its to a honda of yamaha dirt bike.
thes is the back end of the bike.

Those carbs must be from an early 70's Honda CB/CL350 Twin. Pain in the *** to synchronize.....

clean degrease then there are several ays of "polishing"

i use 'mothers' polishing compound.- works great and it takes less time messing around .

or you could use polishing wheels with compound. they sell different wheels for your grinder or drill.

depends on if you have the patience to shine it up.

i dont so i just reach for the high temp black and call it done in a few minutes lol

Lol I'm not a chrome fan eather. I just want to polish it I guess. What are your recomendations? Do I need polishing compound? Or is there some tool or device that I can use to make it look clean. It doesnt have to shine, it just has to look good:P

i repainted my engine high temp black. ill be adding polished engine bolts to it. might even sand down just the fin ends .

or you could take the time to polish and paint however you like.

reason i go black is because it just looks cleaner is all .
plus im not much of a chrome whore lol

I need to know how to make the engine look better?

Easiest way is to scuff it, powerwash it, and then paint it with hi-temp rattle can. I've done 3 that way and they look like new.

well here are some pics of what i have done so far.
I'm talking it all apart and going to have my buddy who airbrushes do a custom paint job on it. I need to know how to make the engine look better?
can I Just get a very fine metal wheel and scuff it down?

Ivan I actually ended up using JBweld.:P I use it for every thing and it works great!
I dont want those metal side coves so i'll let them go for $35 shipped
those carbs looked like they were for a Honda:P

Hi Turbo,
my best guess about those orphan carbs is they came off a V4 Honda.
The clue is the push-pull throttle cable half-moon between the carbs.

shock spring compressor

Homemade motorcycle shock spring compressor. Semi-safe.

My springs were worse than those ones and I used grade 0 and grade 1 and a lot of elbo grease and they look great now.The chrome on the oem springs seems to be fairly heavy.At least on mine.

You could try some 320 to get the rust off the springs. I've taken the springs off the shocks to clean them using a wire wheel on an extension to get the rust off the inside. To do that, you'd have to rig up a spring compressor to dissasemble them. Depends on how far you want to go cleaning them. Painting them black is also a good option, it'll hide the chrome pitting.

Thanks for the links but my springs are not OEM. there the progressive ones that are an inch shorter than stock.
