On the Talihina OK trip I got about 43 mpg going up there and about 32 mpg coming back. On the way up we went about 5 mph over the speed limit (75 mph max) and on the way back we ranged from 80 mph to 120 mph. The way back was a lot of fun and worth the less gas mileage! I've got stock exhaust, pod air filters with Ivan's mod and carbs up one jet size on mains.

I get 38 and 39 if I keep it 65mph and under, If I get 70+ it drops to 33 and less, one time I was running in the hammer lane with fast traffic on I-15 and I only got 90 miles to a full tank of gas but that was cause I was doing xsive speed for a while.

Riding style definitely makes the difference. I gassed up yesterday after flogging the old girl as usual (it's not abuse if she likes it ), and mileage was a shade over 30. Went for a long relaxed cruise in the country today with the SWOXS crew, and at our midway gas stop I checked it again - over 40 mpg!!! I've been grinnin' ever since.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

After seeing the grin on dbeardslee's face when he achieved 40mpg yesterday, I was intrigued by the acetone idea. I did some research this morning looking for good points and bad points, and most of them seem to be good. About the only thing I read that concerned me a little was the idea that the acetone inhibits lubrication, but I'm pretty confident that with such a small percentage of acetone in the gas it won't pose a threat. I'm going to run a tank or two of gacetone [gas-e-tone] through my bike before I pull the carbs and put her to bed for the winter just to see if it clears up any carb issues.I know this, because Tyler knows this.

My lawnmower was my latest candidate for the treatment. Normally I would bog the joker down in a certain area of the back yard. Not this time, power right through the high spot and even ran over a plastic dog-bone to boot and kept chuggin away.....MDRNF

From what I have read, none, at the concentrations discussed here (1oz per 5gal). I have read the ramblings of some on the interweb who are convinced it's a bad idea to use acetone on a regular basis and only suggesting it should be used occasionally as a cleaning agent. I think is was earlier in this thread when xschop mentioned he has been soaking some rubber parts in a 50/50 mix just to see what would happen and so far I don't think he's come up with any problems. Have you Chop? I think there might be potential for undesired effects if you were to use too much acetone, but from what I've read so far it would have to be WAY too much, WAY too often.I know this, because Tyler knows this.

Exactly per Egleaves...... I believe the Acetone is doing it's job of removing any surface tension of the petrol chains (complete vaporization) going into the combustion chamber. At this conc. there is no XS acetone to saturate any of the oil (lubricant) on the piston walls.....If it were, you could remove some of the oil from the crancase filler and do a fingertip viscosity check (real science here folks) or even light a match to it and see if it has affected the oil......I have not seen any problems after many tanks. I have put more tanks through my 95 Civic. And that is fuel injected with no problems....MDRNF
