They probably sent you the SH or H kit instead of the LH one. If it doesn't fit - you shouldn't be stuck with it. Send it back and tell them to give you the right one. That is unless a P.O. switched out the front master cylinder for one that didn't match.
It sounds like your 10 amp fuse had a bad solder joint in one or both ends that was not allowing it to pass the full 12 volts. That can happen with the glass fuses after years of vibration and moisture. Glad you got it running!
