They probably sent you the SH or H kit instead of the LH one. If it doesn't fit - you shouldn't be stuck with it. Send it back and tell them to give you the right one. That is unless a P.O. switched out the front master cylinder for one that didn't match.

It sounds like your 10 amp fuse had a bad solder joint in one or both ends that was not allowing it to pass the full 12 volts. That can happen with the glass fuses after years of vibration and moisture. Glad you got it running!

      I find the semantics silly

Don't ya think, this poor guy should know the correct orientation of his motorcycle. The right and left sides of your bike, are interpreted while one is sitting in the driving position. Also, will anyone, and I mean anyone, please say out load, "The bike comes with 6, (six) OEM fuse holders". By the way, Nautical terms only exacerbate the situation, (port).

        Stupid tiny writing

"Don't ya think, this poor guy should know the correct orientation of his motorcycle"
        Hi Floyd,
a few posts back he did admit to being dimensionally challenged. And nautical (& aircraft) directional terminology is always "stood on the deck facing forward" while for a person leaning over his bike seat from the other side, "left" & "right" could go either way or perhaps be confused with "front" & "back". At least he did find the solitary 30 Amp main fuse and I'm sorry about saying the wrong fuse was a 20 Amp. I should have swallowed my pride and used a magnifying glass, "ig" and "sig" look much the same when they print 'em only 1/16" high.

Fred - Kim's one of those androgenous names, so Kim could be a girl. That would certainly explain not knowing right from left

I was thinking the same thing...

            dbeardslee.
And that's why the questions were clear for someone new to these bikes.
The search for the problem was so thorough even down to fuse ratings, and what they run.
And even when obviously frustrated, they were gracious and appreciative of everyone's help.

"The bike comes with 6, (six) OEM fuse holders"
Mine only has four in the fuse box and one main fuse on the other (left) side. The number of fuses is not the same for all models.

Try finding the main fuse on a '79
