Steering Head bearing removal

OK so my 30 year tune up is getting out of hand. I am trying to get ready for my bikes 30 year birthday. Its born on date is 4/78.

While checking the steering head I can see that that the bottom bearing race this is set in the stem is banged up. Wonder how I did that. Any way I want to install a new bearing set but can not get the old bearing off of the lower yoke assembly. It seems to be pressed on.

Has anyone found a easy way to get that bearing off.

An easy way to remove that bearing is with one of these....



It must be a small one to fit in between the steering travel stops.

Die grinder and a cutting wheel. Cut a slice or two and then have at it with a chisel. (After breaking off the cage and removing the rollers)
Some times I've been lucky... Can get a chisel under the bearing and work it up and loose that way.
