    Thanks

Thanks for all the kind words.

So many good things you have all said about my bike.

It has been a very special project to me. There is allot of history with it. It has been around longer with me than most of my friends all of my kids (and my ex wife...).

Don't know why I did it.... It just needed to be done (and I am still doing it).

    Thanks
    Jeff

Well mine is getting the 1179 kit as we speak - just started on Thurs. It is all being done at a Yamaha dealer in Sudbury. The head mechanic there worked on these engines when they 1st came out. I have no garage or the expertise for the motor job. Plus I live 2 hrs in the county from a city, just to find anyone up here with the knowledge to work on these bikes is a crisis. I have taken it to 3 places b4 this one with no luck. Anyways the motor was finished - rings all gones except for cyl#1 & the valves. Since I wanna kept the bike for a long time I look at it as getting a brand new motor. I will be ridin' this thing for a very long time & to work everyday. The extra power isn't the issue with me, its the new pistons etc. - Dan

well, depending on how picky you are, you could buy the 1197 big bore kit, most manufactures would call that a 1200, and then find a good machine shop to do the boring and put it all together. Probably cost you around 2000 bucks by the time your done with all the "while I'm in there" stuff.

If you want a "true" 1200cc's then do a search for Dan Hodges posts, he's putting together a 1300, and you'd have to do the same things (like re-sleeve the cylinders, custom pistons etc) for a true 1200 because there is no pre-made kit.

Actually if you want to read some good solid tech info on getting more power do a search for dan's posts, he's one smart guy when it comes to engines.
