  • Big Bore vs.Stock

I have been reading many references by other forum members to their bored out XS and XJ1100's.So my curiosity is up...I would like to know if your bike is stock or did you have it bored out?If you bored the engine out ...to what displacement? For those of you who had the big bore work ...did you do it yourself or did you take it to a shop? For my "82 Madmax XJ11 I plan to have the engine bored to "1200"cc...along with some other machining work to the intake and exhaust.I plan to get 100HP and abt 70 ftlbs of torque.I dont do engine work so mine is taking a little trip to Oklahoma in the Spring...courtesy of a connection through MAXIMAN.

I did all my own work except for the actual boring of the block and planing of the head. All went well and the engine runs well

I am in the process of the 1179. I had head work and had the cylinders bored and honed, but I did everything else.

Let me know when you head to Cody's in the spring. We may have a little impromptu get together at his place that he doesn't know about yet! Unless it's just the motor that's making the trip?? lol.

Try your hardest to be the kind of person your dog thinks you are.

You can live to be 100, as long as you give up everything that would make you want to live to be 100!

Well,I most certainly will let you all know.As a matter of fact Cody has invited me to stay at his home.I actually am planning to have Madmax shipped to StillH2O via Eagle One Express. Then I am most likely gonna fly into Tulsa. Not sure if i can get a local connecting flight to Stillwater or wether its better to drive there...or have someone pick me up ......The last I spoke to Cody a few weeks back i was gonna let him know when I was gonna be able to get a certain Bobby to actually fit my bike into his busy schedule.I am itching for March....I hope you all are alright out there with all this god-awful weather I have been hearing abt...nothing ever really happens here in Joiseyland....

Hmm, I need to be able to vote three more times to properly register. I've got three at stock and one at 1179.

              Hmm, I need
XSept for the hot rod XS (1203cc ).... ,
all the rest are stock as far as I know.

When Cody and gang showed up here in CA CA land earlier this year, was sitting in my shop deciding which XS to ride out to meet em.
Most comfy is the Merriam so rode that. Had planned on inviting em to my shop for a little break, but DiverRay said time was short Was sorta interested in maybe a run thru the industrial park on my hot rod XS and Zilla.

                  Stock seems to be winning.

Just goes to show that XSives aren't all boring.

The motor in my bike now is stock, so far as I know, but I am in the process of rebuilding one to 1208cc.

I bought the pistons, and barrels together, already machined.
Nice day, if it doesn't rain...

                      Bone stock.
Plenty of power as it is. I'm sure as time goes on it'll get a rebuild and go up in size and power.
Or, ( I need a replacement daily rider first ) I may decide to play around, strip it down and build it bigger, faster, stronger then it was before. ( without spending 6 million dollers )

I am just far enough south to be out of the mess by about 25 miles or so. My youngest son is mad about it though since it seems everyone in the state is out of school! lol. Cody is about 100 miles north of me, so I think he's had a harder time of it.

March is a tough month to plan on around here. It might be in the 70-80's and it might be in the 30's and raining for a month.

Daily ride is stock, and my "winter project" will be getting a big bore kit, as well as a few other "speed" parts. I am going to try for 150 RWHP!! I may fall short, but we all need a goal.

DiverRay:I for one would be interested in your progress...keep us informed as to how you are going to accomplish this kinda HP...I,Personally will be satisfied for getting a little over 100hp and 70 ft lbs and have it tuned for low and midrange grunt, while still leaving some umph in the upper range of the rev band.I guess its all abt what you want.Since I plan to just ride mostly touring i dont need top end maxed out...

I plan on using a little help with the air/fuel ratio. I think the proper TURBO, with FI, should do the trick.
