    Already TFFO

Even lugging the sidecar along with my stock engine my cowardice kicks in at 1/2 throttle so no, no more ccs for me.

I'd like to find a belt driven supercharger.... Something like a Vortech, for a fraction of the price.

I'm not interested in a rocket, so much as having enough power to comfortably cruise, and still have enough roll-on power to make passing a breeze.

I go for the mods more from an efficiency standpoint...Fuel economy + Power = heaven

            Thread hijack

I'd like to find a belt driven supercharger
I am looking at an Eaton blower off a T-Bird or GM. It is small and has the throttle body out the end. I would drive it off the alternator side and use a small car alternator as an idler.

I have to finish up some other mods before I can start a new one. Once the chassis is where I want it, I will go for HP.

If a stocker XS can't do that....it's not running right.

While in the power band a stock XS will pull strong past 100 MPH in third and still kick but in 4th

It certainly can, but now add a passenger, full decker set and a 28cuft trailer!

I don't really know, we know that the Dragon is NOT stock and that the original owner (who only owned the bike for a year) had it bored. As he has left us for the big twisty highway in the sky we do not know where it was done (except that he said in California) and how big it was done to. Someday I will tear it down and find out but for now I am satisfied that I have all the power I will ever need by about 700% (give or take a few percentage points).

If you really want to know - - -

                      Hi 'Tamer,
                      - - - take the plugs out. Put one cylinder at the BDC of it's compression stroke, jam a plastic hose into the spark plug hole & pour the cylinder full of engine oil through the hose. Turn the engine over 180º, catch the oil that is displaced and measure it. Now you know the swept volume of one cylinder and can work out how much the engine was bored out. Crank the engine over on the starter to blow the rest of the oil out. It'll smoke a bit on the next startup but that won't hurt nothin'.

                        Hiya Fred,

Had already considered doing that, even drilled out an old spark plug and welded an adaptor into it for the hose. Only difference was that I was going to let the piston draw the amount of oil in that it would displace instead of filling it and pushing it out. I think I like your idea better and will probably do it this spring when I let her out of her kennel and get her ready to ride. Will let you know the results as soon as I find out. I guess it will not make a lot of difference, I know that I have way more power than I need and the only use for that much power is to satisfy my occasional burst of youthfull enthusiasm (at my age these don't happen as much as they used to and I generally just take an aspirin and a nap and they go away, but if I am on the bike I just gots to let 'em happen) BUT, I also am possesed of a terrible curiosity and would like to know just what it is I am sitting on!

this should be on the JOTD string but you said:- "I also am possessed of a terrible curiosity and would like to know just what it is I am sitting on!" and so I absolutely have to add:-

You would have to be so exact on everything for that to work. Seems to me it would be just as easy to pull the cams, pull the head, and look if you're that curious. Use it as an excuse to change out the cam chain?? Shim up the vlaves while you're there?

                              Hey, Fred and Tod,

Yah, curious, but not curious enough to tear down a perfectly running bike just to satisfy that curiosity. If you want to call that a lack of ambition you would be correct also. Chain has been done and the valves are good so she will stay intact until it is needed.
Fred, you sound like a perfect Leslie Charteris fan, didn't know that there were any of us left!!
Tod, yah it would have to be perfect but maybe close enough to answer my curiosity? If you have another suggestion I will be ready to try it!
