I know there has been a lot of discussion about these carbs particularly trying to ID them. Well if anyone wants to try a set HERE are some on ebay. AlanB will gladly give you his jetting data as well.

Hi GNEPIG,
You can either put a restrictor in the line and plug the Vac advance into the nipple on the boot, or leave it blanked.
I have run both, equally successfully. According to the Dyno, Power was no different. Vac advance is "off" at WOT! Economy (and possibly smoothness?) are better on a long run with the Vac advance.
These carbs were recommended to me by the local Dynojet agent, and was set-up and tuned on their Dynojet dyno.
They recommended NOT fitting a jet kit for this application.
AlanB WONT willingly give his jetting data......... not 'cos he is a cheap s#n of a b!tch, but 'cos it won't particularly help anyone with a non-identical exhaust and set-up!
I will tell you that settings from one vehicle will not necessarily transfer to another, and will offer any useful help I can. Mine are very close to the stock Suzuki settings, and actually ran pretty well before I altered them at all.

If piped and freeflow filter/filters I'd try 130 - 140 range on main jets and likely up a size at least on the pilot jets and/or up a notch on the slide needles and idle screws tweaked to match, also with a drilled airbox taping over or untaping the holes for more fine tuning

Hi Guys,
The dyno shop who did the tuning for my slingshots fitted lots of these carbs to CV equipped '80s bikes; mainly Zthous/elevens and the GSX11s. They had full Dynojet facilities, including a complete range of pilot jets and needles.
They stated that they had almost never wanted to change either pilots or needles for this type of conversion.
Most bikes wanted Mains sorting out, Needle POSITION altered, and pilot screws ADJUSTED........ no new parts except mains!
Pggg is pretty close with his jetting; I have K&Ns and a free-flowing 4-1.... Mains are middle 140s. Needle position and pilots will depend on your own set-up.
There carbs are very easy to set, compared to the XS originals; MUCH more forgiving!
Go for it!... It will be the best mod you have done to your XS....EVER!

You can't leave stuff like that laying around for long .. eh. They will be a good addition and final engine related part that I need for my hop up bike once color tuned and Dial-A-Jetted :-)

AlanB,
I have a set of these carbs also...and have a fairly free flowing 4 into 1 exhaust. The jetting info is appreciated.
Question, what are you using for pod filters? The mounting lip for the filter on these carbs is pretty narrow, and has no grooves to help keep the pods from sliding off, plus they are somehat oval/egg shaped.
Any help on pod options / sources and pod mounting tips would be very welcome.
Thanks,
GuyGuy

For those interested. I did some research on the subject and the slingshots were available in the US (whether they were called that, I don't know). They did come in a few different jetting varieties; UK, US, and US California). The other variety is that like Alan's carbs some have the rubber tube on the back side. This is basically a high RPM enricher which is essentually useless if you aren't turning over 10k rpm. For those that want the years and specs, they can be found HERE on the Gixxer.com forum.'81 XS1100 SH

Hey 81' 10000 revs ain't a problem, about the spacing, Ive got set of 38mm, but haven't run them, they're spaced wide as, even wider than an elephant XS1100 motor, tricked carb boots are the story there, the 38mm's are probably way over the top, top end power only with a mach111 type power band and bare open pipes and mosquito netting for filters needed for any sort of response, they wouldn't be that bad, also there's keihin cvk 36mm, look similar to slingshot carbs inside the throats, they're classy turbine-like fuel delivery, you'd better hang on, idle to redline, barely touch the throttle and the bikes hammering towards the horizon like there's no tomorrow, you gotta upgrade the handling too, no kidding
