Has anyone ever just turned the "holy disk" around in a petcock? I just replaced my 2nd one and saw no abrasions to the back side.

Tried this just last year BEFORE ordering the rebuild kit - of course the original forward facing side was sooo worn that it leaked more than .... well, you get the idea.Originally posted by lorenc

think this trick only works when there is little wear on BOTH sides. -
Yeah, I have done that and it worked for a short while then started leaking again.

One thing you can do is to flat-sand the valve faces of the petcock handles with progressively fine emery paper and polish them to a mirror finish. I think it also helps to dull the edges around the holes.Skids (Sid Hansen)

Mine had nice raised lips around all the little holes but the holes in the rotating part had carved little nicks in them for the gas to leak through. I polished the face and radiused the hole edges then flipped the rubbers. Going into the 3rd year and no leaks yet.

Fred, it sounds like you have a nice "relationship" going. If you ever develop leaks, get to the doctor! Sorry, I just had to respond to that errotic stuff.
