got about 100 miles on it now in real heat about avg 90-95 degrees here in Oklahoma....It works like a charm....the lockhart radiator does seem cooler than before which means the oil flow is improved......and is definitely a mod to do if you want to be able to change your oil in 10 minutes or less! 2 thumbs up Topcat

      UPDATED DESIGN
thanks for suggestions from JWOEL, Xsive, Mechanical Engineer!
Below are a few more photos of a design modification. The original one did not have a very deep recess in the PLATE, because there was a prominent one in the Fram Filter that allowed much of the nut to receed into the filter, so that just the washer needed to be recessed into the PLATE! Below is the Fram Filter with it threaded onto the mounting pipe, with the nut fully recessed into the filter, so that only the 2mm thin washer is sticking up beyond the mounting/sealing surface!

However, folks like 79XS11F/Rob in Canada as well as Stralya (in you know where) may find it hard to find the FRAM filter, and so it was suggested that I cut a deeper recess into the plate to allow the NUT to sit down farther away from the filter mounting surface for those brands of filters that do NOT have a prominent recess.

The problem was that too deep a recess meant a THICKER plate.

Then Rob also came up with the technique of installing it WITHOUT the washer. See below:

So, you can see that without the washer, with the slightly deeper recess, one can now use essentially any brand of filter that is similar in size to the FRAM!

It was also suggested to make the recessed area a bit wider to allow the easier use of a wrench/socket etc around the nut, and so this was also added!

Thanks for viewing, hope you find this useful!

And BTW, I have 1 SOFCA remaining from my last batch available. I'm holding one other for DavesXS.

On a side note, CLISK got one but he already had a DERALE brand cooler with threaded on fittings instead of hose clamp press on type. Turns out that the 1/4" NPT threads I tapped into the plate to mount the brass nipples are the same threads Derale used for their threaded fittings, so it was a simple swap for CLISK to move his fittings over to the SOFCA!

This MOD was ALREADY incorporated into the recent batch that was sent out these past several weeks!
