AS I promised, here are more results:
all measurements in deg F. There may be error because this in an inferred thermometer which must be pointed at the same spot from the same angle for every measurement. It is about 40 deg in my garage with the door open. I started with the engine idling and a fan in front of the wheel set on high. This fan sucks so that is not much air flow. To simulate driving conditions and to compensate for the sucky fan, I set the air compressor hose on 15psi and blew air into the cooler from approx 6 in away. Keep in mind that I am no scientist, but here are the results. They speak for themselves.
EHT:210
CHT: 350
OI:160
OO:140
EHT= exhaust header temp
CHT=cylinder head temperature
OI=oil in
OO=oil out.
When I continued to supply air, the oil temperature went down to about 130 in a minute or so. I am sure sitting in traffic the cooler helps a lot. When the weather warms up back into the 90's, I will go sit in some traffic with my thermometer. I may try again with the engine above idle to give some higher temperatures. If you don't care, thats fine. If you do, thats cool. I just thought some people might want to know.
