  • 79 XS with windjammer - need mirrors

What kind of mirrors are people using who have a fairing (IE wind jammer). I just picked up a 79 XS with a 78 parts bike (for $375 mind you) and it has no mirrors. My mirrors off of the XJ run into the fairing.

Here's two 'Hs with regular mirrors - nothing fancy. Tsunami on the left has the stock round mirrors for a standard. Purple Reign on the right (before its paint job) has a set of rectangular mirrors off of a special.

Here's some mirrors that I mounted to the fairing (Pacifico) itself. Having the mirrors farther forward gives a wider angle of view behind you.

I have the same mirrors as the bike on the left in the first picture on my 78E with a Windjammer. They work fine except the covering on the "back", which i guess is really the front is getting "flakey".

          Ken:
Are you able to go lock to lock on the Tsunami without hitting the mirrors on the windshield?

Are the handle bars you have the same as on the F model?

Yup, I can go lock to lock on Tsunami without hitting anything. Right now, I've actually got even more clearance from a set of dogbone risers.

Same as on an F model - hmmm, I really can't answer that one as I don't know how they measure up against the H.

I can't get lock to lock on my G with Vetter fairing and stock mirrors. I'm thinking of finding some nice mirrors to mount on the Vetter and taking the stock ones off.

If you can post your progress.
I'm going to look into the dogbone risers as well

I have the Windjammer and stock mirrors, and have no problem going lock to lock. It's close, but it stops just before they hit the radio.

                      Hey bug:

Does the LH have pull back bars like a special?

Stock Bars, stock mirrors and Windjammer. Close, but they do not hit.

You also have the special with it's different bars than the standard. It does make a difference.
