  • Exhaust Header?

I have a 79' xs 1100 special, and I had someone put a header pipe on it, how do I find out what kind of pipe it is?(guy has moved since then) I need to find out if the carb's where jetted? Bike does not run as well as it should. Where do they stamp the info or # on the pipe?

If you can post a pic we can probably identify it.

However you should be able to look at the plugs and see if it's running rich or lean.

Like Max says you need to pull your plugs and look at the color if they are white you are too lean which could be contributing to your blueing problem. Also keep in mind, I am told, that after market exhaust pipes are thinner material than stock exhaust pipes which cause them to run hotter. The stock exhaust pipes are thicker material which acts as an insulator for the chrome on the outside of the pipes.
