Great documentation of your trip Jeff!

So, maybe 8 miles east of Clayton NM, on 412, did we touch Texas???

Sounds like your rain events of your last day worked out as perfect cool down times.

    Nice trip.

              Texas, well almost, maybe .........
I stopped on US 412 at the dirt road. Some ranch storage buildings on the right. Those were in Texas.
Its not marked clearly but I think where that dirt road hits 412 is where Texas begins. The Texas state line runs due east & due south from that point.
The 0 degree & 270 degree crop circle tips of the irrigated field goes right to the texas line.
But maybe the NW corner of the Texas line goes to the middle of the pavement on 412 (which is going NE).
So in any case only in Texas like 1/4 second at the most. (and that's only if you were in the right lane or on the right shoulder were that dirt road intersects)
Otherwise its all New Mexico. close but no cigar

I had gone by there before wondering if road hits Texas which is why I stopped this time.

                A few last pics

Kurt's wife (Nancy) had made me Colorado -or- Bust sign. I made it

On Colo Hwy 141 near Naturita on the magnificant Dolores River

Late afternoon rain in the mountains around Telluride

On Colo Hwy 145. Never ridden that before. Very spectacular mountain scenery & got wet.
The only time the entire trip I put on my rain gear

That is where we Texans stop to get "refreshed" before continuing the journey.

Bridge crossing the Rio Grande (west of Taos, NM) and it was 100 degrees

Back in its day the mighty Rio Grande sure dug out a big canyon

Riding on NM Hwy 58 - stopped for one last look at the mountains.

Philmont Boy Scout Camp back there in the mountains. 140,000 acre property ...... wow
maybe a little nuts to shut the bike off out here?

Saying Adios and beginning the journey back to Atlanta

Had such a great time I hated to leave.
Had the privilege of riding a total of 1,400 miles west of I-25 in CO & NM
                    that was FUN

Had been making good progress towards home and needed a break .......
                    until another thunderstorm popped up.
thankfully that's NOT hail you see

.... before it really let loose I bad jumped back on and headed for Tupelo Mississippi to try again for a respite

Now I have to clean my bike. Its absolutely filthy. After painting the tank & bags (+ wired in the new fuse box) Kurt had detailed everything so nicely. Shined the covers and had it all spiffy. Now its got dirt, dust, sand, cow crap & general debris plastered on. The typical western stuff. Can't let Kurt see it that way

Can only look at so many pictures of one bike. So let's get some Rallies going.

Oh, now i get it. The Texans have the combination to the lock on those ranch out buildings.
That's where the Brisket & Beer and all the fixin's are kept and the party is continuous.
I shoulda known that or at least expected that. I know that Texans are real particular about their best brisket. That's why I go to Lockhart or Salt Lick.
