I ordered a seat cover from B&H Specialties (motorcycleseatcovers.com) for my XJ1100 to get an OEM-style replacement. I'm after the OEM style stitching.

The cost was around $120 shipped including a "premium black material" upgrade and I placed my order 9/16/2014 (e-mail confirmation + credit card charged). I sent an e-mail sometime around 10/15 and waited a week without a response and finally remembered to call during the day on 11/7 and was met with an apology that they never got my order and said it will be 2 weeks. I'm in no hurry to get the cover as I'd much rather have the cover than my money back. All in all, I'm satisfied with the explanation and happy to know my order is back on track!

This is just a head's up if you order online from them, you should give it a couple of days, then follow up with a phone call to make sure they received your order, or just order over the phone.

Hopefully in a couple of weeks I will be able to post some pictures and give a review, and hopefully the seat cover has the OEM stitching as advertised! The lack of technological aptitude will be forgivable as long as they provide a high quality product.

According to the website it is easy to install, though no matter what is intended, it will certainly be "DIY" when I get done with it.

There are a lot of good reviews out there about the quality and ease of installation. The only negative reviews I have seen are delivery time (nature of the business, I think) and someone complaining there wasn't a Honda logo, which I imagine would technically not be legal to reproduce, anyway.

Well, I haven't gotten the cover yet, so it could happen!

We have several seat covers from B&H. They do a very nice job. Good fit and easy to install (as long as you didn't break a bunch of the mounting tabs off your seat pan).
We got lucky on delivery though as they are a block over from where I grew up (and still live close)... just run over and grab the covers when they're done.

Well, another month has gone by and no seat cover. As a reminder, I originally ordered this on 9/16 and I'm starting to lose faith.

I called today to find out what is going on and a gentleman answered the phone who stated he has never heard of me and that he doesn't "deal with that" and to call back tomorrow.

Here's hoping tomorrow yields better results...

Some good news!

I called again Tuesday and was a little skeptical when they said they think they remember my order and will do some checking and call me back. I received a call back yesterday and was informed that my seat cover would ship that day!

Maybe within the next 3 months I will have finished installation!

They do make a really nice seat cover. They sew a little extra padding into it to make up for a few years of "Crush" to the OEM cushion. This is before/after of my seat.








The problem is... You need to staple it with 1/4" staples, (Plastic seat pan on the XJ) which aren't very common, and a regular staple gun won't go through the plastic. I ended up using a slap style stapler that you use putting up insulation bats, but it cut the material a bit in places. My suggestion is to find an upholstery shop and spend a couple bucks more and let them use their pneumatic staplers if you don't have one. 5 minute job at the most.

Sorry you're having so much trouble from them. I didn't get that at all with them.

Thanks for the before/after shots. I did receive my seat cover and assume that my experience isn't typical. My mistake was not calling sooner.

I don't think there are many affordable options in getting an OEM style seat cover, so if it takes some time, so be it.

Now that I have the seat cover, it was worth the wait over re-covering with an aftermarket cover.

I'm not sure how I'm going to install it quite yet, just wanted to remove the old cover and set the new cover on to see how it fits and looks.

I ordered with the "long grain" and "premium" material. I really like how it looks. What I don't like about other replacement seat covers out there is how little character they have with smooth finish on the material and lack of stitching.

Hot day or hot room so cover will stretch out nice, mark center front on cover and base use duct tape to hold front and rear in place. Mark the correct position of the sides on the cover and the base, now you have your starting points. Make sure the foam is centered on the base a little glue if needed to hold it in place.
Your seat base is plastic right ? Short staples and fairly strong air or electric staple gun.
Can't wait to see it done !

Hi Prothec,
If your new cover is stitched all the way through be aware it is not waterproof A wet bum is no Fun A sheet of plastic under the cover will prevent the foam from becoming soaked.

I used some 3M spray glue to hold the seat to the foam. Most any stores like Walmart or auto parts carry it. Won't slip or slide around this way when you're trying to get comfortable on long rides in that modern day torture device known as an XJ seat.

I use these on top of the seat. I don't have any plastic under the cover, but don't know if the foam gets wet because these shed water, breathe, and don't let the sun eat the new cover.
