Bill, that's an awful lot of bike for the money, eh
You bet! It just made me feel even better about the Y2K model that recently sold locally for $4k. I sweated over that one. Bone stock with 7k mi. Needed tires 'cause the PO apparently never leaned the bike. Original sneakers, all squared off.
Anyway...the prices have come down smartly in the last year. I should be able to get a great deal a year from now when finances firm up a little.
In the meantime, maybe the GSXR will end up looking something like this:
I could live with a nekkid Gixxer like that for awhile!

Ok - where do I get these bar end mirrors, and how do they attach? As to Bandits - it is one of the only bikes that I actualy considered getting new. I took one for a run, and let me tell you, there are not many bikes like this out there that a "big" guy can feel comfortable riding. And then there was the fact that it was a demo and a leftover 2002 so the dealer wanted a little ove 6k for it - he almost had me, but then I decided that I was NOT willing to cut back on my lunches for the next 2 years!
Many bike stores carry them, and maybe Napoleon has a
web site? Search DK and MAW?
Jason Raley put them on his 80G, not sure what he did,
but he did it quick after the Snohomish Bike Show mini-
rally 2002 kickoff, he rode to a bike shop that was open
on Sunday afternoon and had them on before dinner.
Bandit has bar end weights stock to damp vibrations,
so in that application you remove the stock bar ends,
and install the mirrors.
I'm guessing Jason had to cut off the ends of his
grips to get the mirrors to plug in the handlebar tube.
There's a rubber plug with a screw that tightens it
to swell it to grab the inside of the bar.

Silver,,, Blue,,,Not all black,,,,,my favorite colors,,,,,I still can't make up my mind,,,,,. What is the stock HP on these bikes???? Don't see it listed anywhere I have looked so far,,,. Ride on !

I hope Mike doesn't mind if I answer...........all black and forest green were also stock colors in various years.
A good place to look at the colors is http://www.suzuki.com since they have 'past showrooms' that you can look at the last 4 or 5 years of each bike.
Stock the 1200 Bandit was around 99hp, the way understand it since the Bandit was an all nations model it had to be under 100 HP for Germany, a few easy and cheap mods will wake the bike up significantly.
Mike, give him some good links will you, I am headed out to fish..

Gary Granger Remember, we are the caretakers of mechanical art. 2013 Suzuki DR650SE, 2009 Kawasaki Concours 1400, 2003 Aprilia RSV Mille Tuono
(smart man, that Gary, he knows I'll rave on and on...)
Black (w/ lots of blue metalflake in it) was stock choice
(of two colors each year) for a few years.
Up thru year 2000, the B12 made 99rwhp with a flat
torque curve with max torque about 70ft-lbs. (real numbers)
Suzuki strangled the gsxr motor with very restrictive
air flow both in and out, and jetted way lean to match.
When I went to a race can and K&N dual filters, I had to
jet up from stock 102.5's to 150's !! and still get 40mpg
Stocker 1/4 mile was 11 flat and like 128mph
With a bit of modification like Gary and I did, you get
115+rwhp and over 80ft-lbs of torque.
There are lots of super-hyped B12's out there!
To get under 10 sec in the 1/4, you have to get
an extended swingarm, and spend several
hundred $ more on cams, maybe nitrous.
And you need that swingarm, too, since
even the stocker lifts the front wheel in first
way before you get to full throttle
they weigh 57kg less than an xs (dry weights both)
In 2001, they unrestricted things a bit, stock is 110hp.
They also offer a stock 'naked' model now.
For a great site showing a pair of black bandits,
with a lot of detail photos and costs, see David Schuen's site
He has a 130hp tourer and a 210hp drag bike.
Yayaaa, now we are getting down to buisness here,,,,,this is the stuff have been looking for and great links,,I am gone now for shure,,,got to getmy mind made up,,but it lookslikethe Bandit can be more versatile than the Vmax,,gotto go take some test rides. Gonna go ride for now ,,thanx guys,,great info.

A very good friend has a Max, he's got it lookin'
good, lots of mods. Some of those guys put
$10-20,000 into them
btw, he reports that the Vmax mail list blew up
over a huge flame war, the long time moderator
and all-around good guy T.C. Campbell just said
the heck with it and left
