        I want one!

You guys are making my think about a Bandit! I alway figured it was a bit too small for my touring tastes, but its growing on me.

          Nice XS, Wayne!

          Hi Wayne

Beautiful XS! So, it's set up for touring just fine, why
duplicate? Use the Bandit for unencumbered thrills!

I can carry just enough on mine (throw on saddlebags,
put a bag on the tail) to get me wherever I need to go.

But, for camping, can't beat my XJ now that it has
fairing and hard bags. Can put my tent roll (in a
tarp 'burrito') with tent, air matt, sleeping bag etc in it, on the
pillion seat, then a backpack, etc, with cargo nets
on top of that, really load that baby down, small
Gaz stove, coffee fixins, etc etc and can camp indefinitely.

I've done several expeditions on the Bandit where
I would be based in one place, shed the tail and
saddlebags, and be lean and mean for day rides,
          it's too much fun!

I assume you checked out the link in my earlier post
of David Schuen's 130hp touring Bandit? That's quite
          a rig...

            Thanks Mike,
Yes, 2 bikes would be nice. But SWMBO has a bike (the shadow) and I'm paying for that one. She is my riding bud.
I get the itch now and then for a new bike, but the XS is such a good bike, and payed for, so I just keep tinkering with her.

              NOS tourer

You are right,, David shuens rig is just what I have been looking for,,the right kind of bags anyway, and the 130hp, would definitely come in handy on those more aggressive days,,,hehe,,,Hopefull i will get a look athe FJ1300 this or next year and will be able to see which is better for me,,,although the Bandit will win on price. An enjoyable confusion.

                              Fiamm horns on Bandit

I just put a pair of Fiamm horns w/ relay on my Bandit, they are awesome loud! -

I made a bracket to fit between the turn-signal stalk and the place it bolts onto. Got the horns and relay at a local junkyard (off a Taurus - early 90's maybe?) for $3.54!! oh, plus a $1 admission fee.

When looking for a place to mount horns, I noticed 3 small cracks in my l.h. bodywork - yikes! Luckily, the owner of a local m.c. body/paint custom shop owns a Bandit (very trick one too, I need to remember to take my camera next time I go over there) and his bodywork guy used this plastic weld stuff on it, it goes on with a soldering iron!

OK, you got me thinking Bandit also.

Mike, you mentioned you had a friend with a V-Max. Have you ever sat on it? Compared to the Bandit, which has more leg room - distance to pegs. MY 78E is just a little (just a little) too short for me, looking at maybe buying another nekkid sport type, just wondering how the leg room is. I tried on a KAW 1300 XXX or something like that, knees were in my armpits. Sat on a Virago once, the owner said I looked like a monkey humping a football (exact words.) I tried on a V-Max, it was similar to my 78E, gal at the dealership said I did look better on it (of course!)

                                Your feelings?
