What does the 4 degree advance mod entail?
Moving the airbox means elongating the holes in the frame that the airbox fits to. The carbs+airbox can then move 10mm forward but this leaves very little space between the carb top and the fuel tap, and IMO alters the appearance of the bike adversely and is a bit of a rubbishy way of doing things. Yes, the spacers are excellent, especially siince they take the required O ring seals. I had them made in the town where I live.

The 4 degree advance mod takes about 3 minutes and is a bolt on timing plate thing which replaces the OEM one. It looks identical to OEM except for the projecting metal tab which fires the coils. Here's one.... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YAMAHA-XJR...item231df411e4 I don't think you can do this mod thought if you have the fuel injected version....

        James-

Please stop posting pictures of your bike. It is the harshest form of torture I can imagine. I have a heart condition and have to double my medicine dose each time you post. It is not fair that you Brits have access to these bikes and we don't. If you continue to taunt us I will have to take drastic action.

Really James, you must consider our feelings when you do this sort of thing !!!!!

Ha ha! I'd hate to present a health risk to any XSive. I'll not post any more pix... not even any of the lovely seat fairing I put on which covers and streamlines the unused passenger seat in shiny black ABS. Or the left 'window' engine casing which replaces the solid OEM one and allows you to watch the timing plate spinning round. Very trick and a bit brash but.... nice..... Nope, I won't post those pix....

The only difference I can see is the ground effects.Other than that it's the same bike.

I haven't seen Ivan ride his XS since he got his FJR. He says it sucks at low speed though. LOL...saw him just fall over a couple of times in parking lots.

But out riding he walks all over our XSs and XJs.

Totally different bike all round Nate, not just the frame and engine. FJR's do look good though, just not as good as XJR's. Naked is way better.
