Honda ST1100 is my main long distance ride. Try to keep the high mileage runs off the Venturer 1100 so it may last me another 28+yrs. without an overhaul, which I would'nt do anyways.

Anyways, had to sell them after I bought my 79 XS1100SF...and now own and ride an 07 Harley Sportster 1200 C. BUT, trying to get my 79 running again so I can race a coworker's new Suzuki Hayabusa 1300...he says he can get 150 in 3rd gear....I think I could take him

You won't take a Hayabusa, or any modern sport bike for that matter, but it will stomp pretty much anything put out by HD that is in the general vicinity of stock.

I currently ride a 1996 883R with a 1200 kit. But I have 3 old kzs. sitting beside it.One is a 76 z1 900,the other 2 are kz 1000. The 883R is fun but sometimes you have a need for speed.

Replaced the fender yesterday, then got out for a ride with this surprise weather in the 50's here in NH. Not bad for early March. Heading back out again today since it's suppose to be in the low 50's again today and tomorrow. I'm loving this Global Warming!

Past bikes? - Okay

In 1963 I found a single cylinder Norton something or other in a junk yard that was only an engine, gear box, frame and wheels. If I remember correctly, I paid 50 cents for it. I managed tires n’ tubes, a bicycle seat and handle bar and a gas tank from a scooter. It never had a headlight, taillight, speedometer or any other of that other useless stuff. Thank goodness it had a compression release so I could bump start it. There wasn’t a clutch cable so I had to get a running start to hop on and jab it into gear for the bump start. Breaks were borrowed from Fred Flintstone. The throttle was a wire spliced to the slide cable and wrapped around a greased handlebar grip. If I didn’t pay attention, the greased grip would slip off the end of the bar and I could display a new set of scabs. Looking back, I am amazed I survived. That was the beginning of my life long love of motorcycling. After that came a;

I had the GoldWing Interstate the longest, until 2005 and retired with 220k. The most fun bike was the ’82 Honda FT 500 Ascot. It took me back my single thumper roots and had a helium filled front even with a Quicksilver fairing. On a bet, I road a 2 mile wheelie until a Beeville, Texas city cop failed to see such purpose. And now after a five year dry spell, I now have my “NEW” 1979 XS 1100 SF. It is good to be back in the saddle.

1987 Yammie FZR1000. It was so beautiful to ride and look at. After 6 years of ownership I sold it because it was getting too painful to ride for more than 2 hours or so... damn the ravages of arthritus and old age. Replaced it with a 1984 FJ1100, not as exciting but more comfortable and still a good bike.

I was hit on my 1984 Honda VF1000F Interceptor that was pristine and 100% unmodified. Ran like a top and was pretty stinkin' quick for a well over 600lb bike. A true shame. Nobody makes bikes like that any more, and one of those in that kind of shape is a very, very rare find. And with 55k on the clock. It was a sight to behold. I think my next replacement, in my dreams, would be a Suzuki B-King or a new Kawasaki Z1000. The spirit of the older bike embodied in a more advanced time. Plus, when does 160+ hp at the tire seem unattractive?

I painted the bike over the winter. The flames were too gaudy.

More mods to my Yamaha Raider

I recently added this to my stable. The wife wanted something a bit more "sophisticated" for road trips. And she wanted some way to haul a couple dozen pair of SHOES!



Haven't really even gotten to trip this machine yet. Tode it home from Colorado last Sept. And I've taken it to Arkansas last fall. The power delivery is very similar to an XS11. I've compared dyno curves of an XS11 to the 1150RT and they are very similar. Even the torque curves are similar except the boxer makes a little more steam in the mid range. But max torque and max HP are very similar. on both bikes.

One major diff...the my 1150 holds 6.6 gallons and gets 45 mpg easily (50 if you throttle back to 65-70 mph). So the range is far superior to the Eleven.
