Even if they aren't exact, I figure going from the pivot bolt to the axle will get it perfectly parallel(the axle and pivot tube)
You know what I mean?
what I did was run a string around my front sprocket (mocking the outer edges of a chain) just hooked a loop around one of the teeth and ran the two lines past the rear sprocket and looped that end around a 3' piece of all thread sticking out of a piece of 2x4 perpendicularly. Trying to see if my sprockets line up. Made sure the string was touching the both sides of the front sprocket.
It looked line up. the strings ran past my rear sprocket and it was centered in them. then I decided to measure the distances between the axle and the pivot bolts and one was shorter than the other. So adjusted axle so they were the same, then used a piece of 1/2" straight, aluminium tube laid flat against the outer face of my rear sprocket and more than half of the tube hit the teeth of my front sprocket.
Long Story.... Sorry, but the morale is do not rely soley on the string method to align sprockets.

If your talkin about the pivot bolt, I reused all the stock stuff. Bolts, bearings, and seals.
If your talking about the axle it is 3/4"

reusing the stock pivot stuff gives me a little play from left to right, in case my sprockets dont line up exact with it centered. however that will effect my tire being centered.

the sprocket will always be a headache on a new setup. I just thought you made a custom s/a pivot shaft like i did. cool to make them from stock though...I am lazy, if I don't have to weld, I don't....are you going to brace up the s/a later?....

I thought about it , I really dont know right know. I am sitting at about 31" from center sprocket to center sprocket. Its definetly extended but Not by tooo much. I have looked at a lot of places that sell extended swingarms for sport bikes and on just about all of them the under/over bracing is optional. It makes me wonder how functional it really is?
That zx11 swingarm looks like a good option, is it wide enough in the front to not have to extend the pivot tube?

the tube will have to be made from 25mm dia. stock( i have an extra one for later) and 17mm holes spun into them for the xs11 pivot bolts to go into....the rest is easy, just hack some spacers from aluminum for side to side adjustment... this s/a would let you get up to 200 tire and extend by 5 inches from stock xs length....

Audi, with the swingarm sitting on a flat surface there's gotta be NO sideways rocking movement. Swingarm has to be made dead accurate to within 1/2mm or less for that. Measure a dead accurate distance from pivot point to axle holder and mark a notch/line on the axle holder, then mark out a set of adjustment notches along the axle holder. Do the exact same measurements on both sides of the swingarm. Good to go for a dead straight wheel then. I marked the adjustment notches into the steel with a thin disc on a dremel.

I think Ill do that mrking thing when I get back from my trip. My axle adjuster aren't set up the same way as yours, but I'll figure somethin out. I pulled the tape off my rear wheel last night. The Paint job looks awesome. So when I get back, with some minor assembly I should be able to ride the monster (less the rear fender) I am also trying to get the front wheel off a CB550 to fit on the front so I can get some spokes. Only problem is it uses a smaller dia. axle. But I have got new bearings to install so I can use the XS axle. I should beable to reuse stock XS rotors. THe 550 hub uses bolts that go all the way through to mount the rotor. So I figure with some longer bolts and maybe some rotor spacers I can get this wheel to work with both front stock XS calipers and rotors. Wish me Luck

Hi guys, just figuring why you're needing to move your rear sprockets outwards, is it because the chain is hitting the tyre sidewall? If so, the tyre must be too wide for the rim?? About shimming out the sprocket, the cush-drivehub type wheels have a bearing riding precise in line with the chain/sprockets, if moving the sprocket outwards it's probably a good idea to move that bearing with it in case the bearing starts wearing out unevenly when riding. Means a spacer on the r/h side and skimming down the l/h spacer. In other words more work
Also moving the sprocket means you likely need longer sprocket studs, and also after 2 or 3mm of movement the sprocket will have slipped off the hubs' inner collar None of this would apply with a solid mount type wheel though hopefully. Also with the sprocket moved outwards the studs/nuts/sprocket/chain will be closer to the l/h swingarm, depends on how far the swingarm was 'kinked' for clearance. Not sure if Chops single side arm is left or right.
About the spoked front wheel, fiddling with spacers, oil seals and bearings (using the beefier XS axle) - should get a fit without too much drama
my swingarm is centered between pivot points because the s/a is exactly 11 5/8 inch wide...I can still adjust either way +-10mm with spacers on the custom shaft... I am still perfecting the chain drive housing (machining time consuming) so it (Sprocket)can be adjusted....will post pics here first....

Hey Pggg should be on sweat for me to move my rear sprocket out. I dont have the cush drive setup, just solid. And the sprocket bolts I previously purchased were too long so now they should be just right. After putting on my extra 3/8 spacer, My sprocket and bolts should just clear my swingarm. If any more adjustment is needed , I am going to have to cut down the middle gear shaft to move the front sprocket inward. I already have it as far as the unmodified front shaft will let it go. But I think this other rear spacer should get my chain close to sraight if not exact. Hopefully I ll beable to test ride it as soon as I get back. Post some PICs too. Later Folks
