'Chaindrive Kit' wouldn't work there's still heaps of adjusting/altering/tweaking and a swingarm and finding the right parts at bike wreckers. Some Kawasaki rear wheels line up with the XS11's drive unit with both wheels aligned, but if some Honda or Yamaha or Suzuki wheels are the same, I don't know. The real truth is - the XS shaftdrive is smooth, quiet, clean, heavy, non maintenance, cheap to run, and power difference between shaft and a chain isn't much at all.

Gar, yep it's a lot lighter, you feel the difference straight away, an alloy swingarm would look good for sure, I stuck with the XS steel arm for a few reasons, conveniance mainly, plus it didn't cost me a cent I did check out some alloy swingarms at bike wreckers, but none I could find were even remotely close to the XS swingarm dimensions,(major alterations to fit) majority are mono design with narrower pivot points and quite a bit longer in length.
Also the cast-alloy arms were quite a lot bulkier(very little room for chain clearance on the Eleven) and the one's I hefted off the floor seemed actually HEAVIER than the compact but very strong steel box-section XS swingarm.

Gotta a question for ya Pggg. I love the mod, and I a planning on doing the same thing. A little differenty though. What bike were the front sprockets from? Or did you have them custom made. I saw you wrote they were custom cut, but were they originally from a different bike? And where did you get them made or cut?
Thanks for your help."Beware of any man that owns a pig farm"

Steve,
He has access to a local NZ shop that makes sprockets and had them make his to fit the spline. I got him to get an extra one made last year, and sent it to me!! I got a 13 toothed one since I wasn' t wanting to grind on my cases!
You were talking a while back about going BELT drive, don't know if they can make a belt sprocket?!

Nice mod. Anyone else going to attempt this? I have a middle drive case that would be perfect for this if anyone wants it. The output shaft is already broken, so it's not good for anything else anymore. The end of it where the nut goes on is sheered off. No idea, it was like that when I got it.
Yours for the cost of shipping from Detroit,MI. Somebody take it soon or it's going to the scrap pile.Brian

Hey TC.
Unless I can find a front pulley that has a diameter of around 3" I am going to do a chain instead. The only way to use the pulley I have for the front now is to extend the middle gear shaft, (which turns out won't be easy) and run the belt outside of the frame. Which in this case requires me to move the foot peg. It also requires a custom swingarm and a huge rear tire for it to be symetrical. The rim I have for the rear currently is 5.5" wide and I think can hold a 180 or 190 tire. I dont think this wouold look good with a 14" wide swing arm. Pus the rear pulley would have to be spaced out considerably from the tire. So I am currently looking for a smaller front pulley and also chain stuff. I have found out that some old Kaws (early to mid 80's)used a belt system and currently have questions out about the diameter. Awaiting answers.

I have also seen some sprockets on ebay that look like they would fit our spline pattern. I was wondering if anyone knew specifically which bikes sprockets could work? There is a store online called sprocket specialist and rebel gears that look like they may have or can make what we need. Just dont know about the splines."Beware of any man that owns a pig farm"
