He is there in the picture. I ALWAYS touch the probes and verify "0" Ohms BEFORE trying to test anything. If the battery is going or low, the meter will not work correctly. AMHIK.....Ray Matteis

You can possibly repair the sender with this part. (this will repair the thermistor type and not the float type)

This reminds me of having to replace fuel pumps in Benzs and BMWs-it was ALWAYS people who let the car go to E before refilling. Never thought it might be because they sat without fuel for long periods but that is what happened with me-I let it sit for months ( too hot to ride here in AZ ) with little fuel in it. I SUSPECT if I hadn't it would still be functional.
But hey, what do I know?
Worse case scenario is being unable to fix and then I'd have to use odometer rather than wait for sputtering of "reserve" needed. Not THAT big a deal, really.
But I'm anal......so...

Hello Group. New member just got a 1980
XS1100 like I had 40 years ago. (The one I had was a Midnight Special this one is not) Because it is a 44 year old bike it has a few small issues but runs and drives like a new bike. I have the shop manual and a Chilton manual and I can't find the bulb number for the low fuel indicator. I searched on this site and found a few threads about the bulb but nothing about the bulb number to find a replacement. Do any of you seasoned 1100 gurus have any information as to what and where I can find this bulb and a part number?
Second issue is the turn signal flasher is not flashing when activated. Any information on this problem would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Scott

The flasher problem could just be that you need to clean all your electrical connections and also check to make sure your battery is good. The signals won't flash if you have dirty connections. On all bikes i first acquire that is one of the first things I do. I go through every connection on the bike to ensure they are clean. I also use this Amazon.com: Hosa D5S-6 CAIG DeoxIT 5% Spray Contact Cleaner, 5 oz. : Automotive
on each connection. The Deoxit protects them after you clean them. It breaks down the oxidation that you don't see.2 - 80 LGs bought one new
