I have a radio on my GS850G Suzuki and never use it. I have seen to meny riders damn near loose it while trying to fiddle around with the settings or get a tape in. Besides the sound of a perfectly running engine is in its self is a symphony.

Generally around town I don't have tunes (watching out for errant cages). For trips or relaxing rides (slow OR spirited) I do like tunes. I plug a CD player into my chatterbox.
I do plan to install a stereo in my Pacifico fairing someday, fairing speakers and a headphone jack (that cuts out the speakers). I don't like cars with the booming stereos so I don't want to be like them. (I'm waiting to see some Honda Civic booming down the street have a fender vibrate loose and fall off someday).

        Pat,

I agree with you, the only thing worse is to have something fall off you your ride, while the vibration is coming from the next lane.. (i had a 78 datsun pickup that needed a sweeper behind it by the time i had 180K on it... spent part of its life in alaska.. never the same .. but didn't wanna give up either.)

BTW, nice meetin you at Deuce..

GOTTA have tunes. Just upgraded the tunes on TAZ to a Sony AM/FM cassette (xm compatable) $89 U.S. at Walmart and 100% water-proof speakers from West Marine $25 U.S. SWMBO and I would not have been witout them on our last trip.

Guess maybe I'm different, but I like the noise of the road and the wind around me while I'm riding. I haven't ridden any long rides, so maybe my opinion will change with time!

Wow. Over 350 views of this thread, and only 38 votes? Talk about lurking . . . only 38 out of 350 have an opinion? . . .

Anyway, do these poll threads ever close and broadcast results? Or do they stay open indefinately?

They stay open forever, the results are broadcast to all voters. Once people stop repling it drops from sight.

No I got them at West Marine, $25.00 US. They are 100% water-proof and fit quite nicely in a Vetter Cyclesound

keep playing those tunes on the cycle and maybe you will here angels playing harps- save it for the great room and the easy chair- the real tunes come from the revs and the exhaust- or maybe you are talking about riding a lexus!
see if maybe you can 'splain this to me lucy!

Well, I've got no angels playing harps in my MP3 collection . . . but I do have a chick with a fiddle . . . that close enough?

I can't see how the music could cause a problem, ambient noise is still clearly hearable over the music (I can hear cars and bike/road noises).

The only danger I can see is that some songs magically make the bike go faster . . . really!

"One Wild Night" by Bon Jovi will earn you tickets on a hot summer night . . . unless the LEO is also a music fan . . .

You have to love and be passionate/inspired by music to really want this . . . if you are, just try it . . . you'll like it.

I agree with you Danny about certain songs making the XS go faster. The 'Ole Mule' just loves it when I play "Whisky River" by Wille and she also seems to like "Revolution" by the Beatles. Cant keep her under 85 when I play that song!
