I'd love a patch .... I missed out on the ones this site made up several years ago. I'd love to get them as well!

Sorry but you're missing the point of my suggestion.
The XS1100 was launched in 1978.
Wether we have a 1978 or 1981 model it's still a XS1100.
What I am suggesting is that a patch with XS1100 on it can cover all models from 79-81.
A patch with XS1100E may be interpreted by some as a patch for just that model.

IMO an anniversary should be designated from the "original" models' date of production.
Now as the '79 SF still shares the same-ish engine it is still the "first" Special model which will be 40 next year, all other Specials are not firsts and the same goes with the Standards.
Also the XJ 1100 Maxim is an original offered one year here in the States that you could celebrate its 40th in 2022.
Respectfully the XS 1100 5k7 Euro Sport and the Oceanic RH Sport are a first model offered across the pond in '81 as well as the Martini which is an "F" with a John Mockett designed fairing.1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)
Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.
