I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.
'79 XS11 Standard, Jardine 4/1, Dyna DC1-1 Coils, 145 mains, 45 pilots, plastic floats - 25.7mm, XV920 fuel valves, inline fuel filters, speed bleeders, Mikes XS pods, spade-type fuse block, fork brace, progressive fork springs/shocks, manual petcocks, 750 FD, Venture cam chain tensioner, SS brake lines -
That one I created stencils and used Dupli-Color rattle can paints. Then the final details i used a brush. The top clear coat a two stage paint (Spray Max 2k High Gloss Clearcoat) to keep the gas from messing it up. Total cost was about $65.
On the Punisher I used automotive paint that the paint store recommended and it cost about $250...I went back to rattle cans.

I had to google that one. I can only assume you won't find a fairing on that bike. LoL
Reminds me of the story of the porn start who went to work as a gas station attendant. They had to fire him though. Every time he'd get a tank nearly full of gas, he'd pull the nozzle out and spray the last bit all over the car.I think I have a loose screw behind the handlebars.

One of Murphy's Laws has been quoted as "before you do anything, you always have to do something else." Nowhere has that been more true than with my XS1100. Old gas in tank must be drained BEFORE starting. Want fresh oil BEFORE starting, and oil filter bolt is rounded off, so that needs addressed BEFORE filter change. Extractor socket won't do the trick, so I need to grind flats on the head to use a conventional wrench. or grind and drill for an extractor tool BEFORE I can take it off. Oil turns out to be contaminated with fuel from bad taps and carb (s?), so they must be refurbed BEFORE fueling up and starting. Add to all this I've moved in to my childhood home to care for my ailing parents, and there is no place for the blasted thing, so I stashed it/her in my girlfriend's garage, and she's just had to sell the house, requiring me to get The Dragon (bike nickname) out of there BEFORE the S.O. moves. That's a lot of befores. Of course, each one of them is a "one more"."Venturered" 80 XS1100G - "DoraMax" getting sort of resto/destro ed.
Yeah it's a pretty blue, but just because you're old is no excuse to buy a bagger. Fortunately I have wrenches.Comment
