Brant you've come a long way in what is a relatively short time...although it may not seem that short to you...but I see you back on a Steed of some sort within a year or sooner...be patient and do your PT and listen to the Dr's... I admire your resilience and determination...

Doin this 'ridin thing' since thirteen.........ain't givin it up yet........I be back aboard the Venturer come mid october.

When I first started hunting down a donor bike, I had a plan for a rattlesnake Gadsen motif. Yellow Skins, snakeskin frame. I abandoned that idea, but since my "beast" spent its first two months of my ownership in a borrowed garage in a town named after Peking, and because the machine itself is Japanese, AND because the mascot for the aforementioned town is a Dragon, I didn't completely abandon the serpent vision. The flared hood suggested by the still unremoved fairing doesn't hurt neither. Someday this Tokyo Rose will be completed, but my thoughts keep evolving (or devolving)

The Dragon Lady

Well. after the heredious crash of the STeed in June, and me still doing the wheel chair/walker thing, I believe the XS Bentley ride is gonna be the only two-wheel option for awhile. Got a couple four wheelers two, but can hardly rotate key assembly, and hold lock release at samw time. Just as well as that clutch and six speed ARE bit of a handful right now. But hey, gave it a try anyways. Wife's Escape gonna be only option when the time comes being still a bit crippled up for totalling the STeed.

I saw the pics from the crash aftermath - looked pretty bad. But hang in there, and you'll recover. There's an old skydiving saying that seems appropriate - bones heal, chicks dig scars, pain is temporary, and glory is forever - ride on, brother!

He's right about that. I had Betsy parked for a few years while Mom was in her final stages and I couldn't leave her alone. After she passed I cleaned the carbs, changed the fluids, and did some other maintenance items, and it is like having a new bike. 'Course if it's your only transportation... well, a man's gotta do what a man's gotta do.

One of Murphy's Laws has been quoted as "before you do anything, you always have to do something else." Nowhere has that been more true than with my XS1100. Old gas in tank must be drained BEFORE starting. Want fresh oil BEFORE starting, and oil filter bolt is rounded off, so that needs addressed BEFORE filter change. Extractor socket won't do the trick, so I need to grind flats on the head to use a conventional wrench. or grind and drill for an extractor tool BEFORE I can take it off. Oil turns out to be contaminated with fuel from bad taps and carb (s?), so they must be refurbed BEFORE fueling up and starting. Add to all this I've moved in to my childhood home to care for my ailing parents, and there is no place for the blasted thing, so I stashed it/her in my girlfriend's garage, and she's just had to sell the house, requiring me to get The Dragon (bike nickname) out of there BEFORE the S.O. moves. That's a lot of befores. Of course, each one of them is a "one more".

XS1100SF I'm the second owner the first one died at 70 I bought it from his
son that was scared of it. She don't like to follow very well and likes fresh
air so I call it The Leader.

You know what they say - if you're not the lead dog, the scenery never changes. I like it.
