This spring we got in for repair an EXTREMELY rare yamaha RX-50 two stroke. Search it up and you'll find the RX was given to dealers, one per dealer, to raffle or whatever as promotional material for the midnight special.
The day after I fully rebuilt the engine and had her purring like day one.....
we got in the very bike it was meant to promote, for brake service...I had to capture this one of a kind moment.

Next up, this spring we were publicly challenged by another shop in a budget bike build off. Rules: 3 guys, 30 days, $1000. We chose a 1981 CB 650 "Rosie" Custom handbuilt in our shop frame from the engine back. We powdercoated ALL parts except the frame. I was" lucky" enough to delace/powder/relace the wheels. We won hands down, auctioned the bike, and gave proceeds to a local fallen soldier organization (kinda fitting since our shop is veterans) Funny fact, we did the math on our costs involved, we calculated 12 different times and each time came up with the same number $999 Enjoy!!!

My daughter and I attended the True Grits
      50cc Fun Run
yesterday. It may be the only 50cc event in the country. It sure is a hoot!

I was working at a job site real close to where they were and a lone scooter came by on the back road I was on and asked if they had went by,I said no.How do you get lost in a pack I thought. She was kinda of a big girl, pushing 250 or so and the guy on back,on a scooter mind you, had a 40 ouncer going so that more or less answered my question.

I think back in the day they were called boats or gas hogs..
I am in the back seat but I learned how to drive in this three on the tree ford

I was scared to death of that clutch and then I became a truck driver

Boats is more descriptive...back in the day gas was sooo cheap that the term gas hog wasnt even in play...When I got my license in '69 in AZ gas was 18.9 cents a gallon...

You got off cheap, think I paid 19.9 a gallon and it was pumped for me with the windshield cleaned and oil checked.I forgot about the S&H Green Stamps and the glasses you got.......fun times back then.Maybe we should start an old farts thread

I've never seen or heard of the RX-50, I'd love to have one.

                    Here's my Midnight Maxim:

And what I started with for $150.00:

1980 XS1100G "Dolly G" Full Dresser (with a coat of many colors )
                    1979 XS1100SF (stock-euro mods planned)
                    1984 XV700L Virago (to be hot-modded)
                    1983 XJ750MK Midnight Maxim (semi-restored DD)
                    1977 XS650D ( patiently awaiting resto)

Sometimes it takes a whole tank of gas before you can think straight.

By the way, what a great idea this thread was ... I, for one, love it! Thanks ...

Marco,#6 We have a great thread with 11's so since we all like the older, better looking bikes from the 70's and 80's I thought an UJM thread might be fun. I am not much of a mechanic so I can't do the technical threads so I thought this might be something we could all enjoy.Pictures It doesn't have to be friday..just a catchy name

Where ever we go with this is fine with me,we are all here for motocycles.

This bike looks EXACTLY like the CL450 we just restored. I think there's pics on the FB page...
