Don, glad to hear you are back home and doing a few things. We wish you a speedy recovery and hope the pain isn't too unbearable. From what I hear getting comfortable to sleep can be quite a challenge.

Pics you posted really show us we can get ourselves banged up even in such a passive and serene setting. Pretty tough to second guess where the pavement is going when you get blinded like you did. It only takes a few seconds. Heck, Phil broke four ribs only going 2 mph backwards.

Great you are in the recovery mode and are back home. Keep us posted on your recovery.

      Hi Don,
Good to hear you are home and making progress in your recovery.
As JeffH mentions I broke 4 ribs too. I found sleeping in an reclining chair much more comfortable than trying to get out of bed.
      Keep taking those deep breaths.

Take it easy and count your blessings, you're still around to ride another day and that day will come!

Sorry to hear the bike is probably a goner.. but there are plenty of other bikes out there in need a of a good home.

Rest up and get your fill of Judge Judy and Youtube videos while you can. Cheers!

I wonder if you all would be interested in taking a look at some shots of the bike to help me determine if fixing it or replacing the frame are best options ?

            Don,
            Glad you're home and recovering.
By all means, when you can...post some pics of the bike.

I know others who have crashed before and their bikes were rebuilt.

Take it easy for a while.

              Hi, Don -

Of course we would be interested!!

But, take your time and make sure you keep breathing deeply ...

The deep breathing helped me tremendously after I broke 3 of my ribs.

Man, that looks like everything shifted left two spaces. You'll have to take her apart to really see how bad it is, but it looks like the whole bike is damaged, not just a front end or something like that. I'm afraid that you'll keep finding more and more damage the more you get into it. It looks like the case guards did their job.

It looks like the swingarm got knocked out from under it. Or maybe the swingarm is bent. Seat/tank look aligned. Back wheel, not so much.

Actually, it doesn't look like the forks are bent from the pics and the rear part of the frame where the fender mounts is fairly easy to bend back.

As long as the wheels are still in line it looks cosmetic for the most part.

Looks more like the tail piece of the frame is pushed over to me Marty.

Hard to tell but wheel looks angled closer in rear to right muffler than left and mufflers look relatively straight.

Probably tweaked both. I did not think it possible to bend those giant aluminum grab bars. Impressive.

If it were me, I'd find me another bike with title and move over or replace all the good bits including engine till it was as I wanted.

Frame tweaks can lead to unusual riding issues. I dont want you to have any issues.

Probably won't know for sure about the rear part of the frame until it's stripped down, but it looks mostly like cosmetic damage.

Windshield, right and left side front and rear signals, tank, sissybar, maybe seat pan...

Maybe just the pictures not showing everything, but looks like it survived pretty well,

Looks like the alt cover might clean up and repaint...
                            Exhaust looks pretty good...

Did the right throttle and controls just twist? Looks like even the rh mirror survived.

Hopefully, the frames not bent and it's just the bolt on stuff.

                                Don,
You may not be able to tell about the back end until the seat comes off...
And guessing the way it's twisted...it may not come off too easily.

But, even if the frame's twisted, worse case, you might just get another frame.
Finding another tank that's in good, clean shape with good petcocks might be the challenge. But hey...who know's you might score a bigger tank and upgrade? Or, how 'bout a bobber? Lol...

I know when Ivan got ran over that time, his bike was far worse.
Everybody pulled together, raked up the parts, including a frame, and rebuilt it...good as new.

Try not to get too worried... It can be fixed or replaced.
Thank the Lord the irreplaceable survived... YOU!
                                Hang in there, bro.
