  • Can someone IDENTIFY THIS BIKE???????

This is an old pic of my step dad and I on his motorcycle.
I'd like to know what Yamaha that is! (:

    Have:
    1994 FZR600
    1982 XJ1100

    Had:
    1996 YZF600R
    2001 Honda xr125
    Suzuki race 80
    Honda PW 50
    Etc.

    Getting:
    1977 DT400

Well it is a Special for sure and it must be an 80 or 81 and not a 79. Tail light is different than that on a 79.

Looks like a HD sportster rear fender and light to me. Maybe seat too. The engine cylinders are not painted black like my 81...Maine that lends a hint.

        smaller xs

Looks like the smaller shaft drive version of our 1100's, I am guessing the xs,xj 650 since the xj550 was chain drive..............the wheelbase and size looks definately smaller so my best guess is the 650..........Mike in Sun DIego

Defo an 1100, none of the smaller versions had the same ignition cover, and as said, a Hardley rear fender and light.

XJ650 would have a single front brake. I agree that it's a customized Eleven Special.

It's got the xj650 headlight mount. Could be a modded 81 XJ 650 with XS style wheels

The left engine side cover, to me, says it's not an xj650
The xj's have only a round side cover, whereas this bike has a protrusion on the upper right, slightly recessed back.
                    Right?

do you know what Year the photo was taken?

I don't think it is an XJ of any size.
It is not and XS850 or XS750

My best guess a modified 79 XS1100 but the picture is a bit fuzzy so I'm not 100% sure.

                        It's a 79 Special XS1100 with a custom rear fender. I can tell it's a 79 by the carb diaphram covers

But, then again, a stock 79SF doesn't have reflectors mounted to the rear shocks as this bike does ...

But this bike looks to have been modded, anyway ...

Exactly!!! only the XS1100 had this very distinctive cover. Which model/year XS1100??? that I don't know.

C'mon lads!! look at the rear drive, they were only fitted to the XS1100 XS850 and XS750, and it certainly isn't an 850/750.

Greg, the jugs and head look exactly like XS1100 to me.
