Aren't they stamped steel? I supposed one could be milled out of some aluminum but it wouldn't be that pretty.

79 F - gas tank refurb, headgasket change, straight pipes, late model carbs, virago lowering shocks, special headlight and gauges, TC fuse block, GSXR-1100 carbs (WIP)

Not all that hard to fix; I repaired the one on the '80 special I sold by fabbing a 3/32" aluminum replacement part for what broke off, overlapping it to the back of the lever and drilling/tapping it for a couple of 6/32 buttonheads to hold it on. Not noticeable unless you looked...

I got rid of the lever, ran a 8-32 die over the enrichment shaft and threaded on a knob...

          functional

yep those are functional for sure but not all that aesthetically pleasing. Out of all the bikes and all the carbs out there with broken levers, someone could build a nice little cash cow. Just saying...

Yeah, what Phil and I did won't fly for a hard-core restoration but fits into the XS11 credo of 'cheapness' nicely....

But that's a rather intricate stamping in pretty heavy gauge steel and not something easily repoed. But the part that breaks off is simple and could be easily made, do that and weld it on, have the lever replated and you're good to go. But not cheaply....

                Tip

When cleaning /rebuilding the carbs it's a good idea to coat the enrichment plungers and the ball stops with silicone grease.

It'll take the strain off of the lever.

                  Levers

The enrichment lever rubber covers are still available. I know a lot of those go missing. Part number 2F3-14968-00-00.

I did that too. I also removed the detent ball and spring on the #4 carb so it's only the one on the #1 locking the choke rod in place. This makes the choke MUCH easier to pull out and it still locks into each position!

If you have both pieces (if broken), they can easily be repair. The are just stamped steel. I just do a tidy little tig on them and re-enforce them along the back. Though, neither can be done pretty if it's chromed version.
