Without being overly judgmental, what were you doing on a turnpike at 80 mph without it on your head?

LOL, did he say it wasn't? That could explain a lot.

Off da bike, not da head.

I did some no-helmet riding last year. Actually enjoyed it. Helmet full-time this year though.

OK, for those who ask why I wasn't wearing it I normally don't wear it running around town because it's difficult to see traffic with it on. I wore it to work at 7 am because it was a little cold and it keeps me from getting brain freeze. I wore it, such as it is, again this morning riding to work.

It's a Hawk modular helmet. Actually it held up pretty good, one of the vent doors on top vanished as well as one of the removable cheek pads. The only part that broke was a piece of the chin guard latch on the left side. Other than that just chips and scratches.

A good excuse to get a new one with Blue Tooth. Ear buds are a hassle.

Greg- I just bought a cheapie (Gmax GM-54), and I like it!). I looked into a Torc T22 with Blinc 2 BT. It's absolutely useless over 45 mph. Stick wifh your earbuds. Those speakers are so far away from your ears. Earbuds seal the canal from wind noise. I know ur still young and enjoy good music, so maybe BT earbuds? Jaybird Bluebuds are good.

Buds are illegal in some states. Georgia is one.

Just curious Marty- Are ear plugs illegal? My only displeasure about wearing earbuds is not being able to hear the engine. If I drop a cylinder, I want to hear it. Plus, I love the sound of my exhaust!

No, earplugs are not illegal in Georgia. I believe ear buds and inside the helmet.speakers.are.not.OK.

I was relieved to find out your head wasn't in it while that was happening. Stay safe, my friend. Legal isn't the only thing to consider.

I liked stylish helmets and H-D tupperware lids before my collision. After looking over the full-face I was wearing as I bounced down the road sans bike, I don't think I'll be needing my 3/4 and half helmets anymore. To each his own.

Well, without the helmet on it, that becomes a much more likely scenario.
